Manny Pacquiao: Marquez KO Will Send Message to Mayweather
Manny Pacquiao has one boxer to worry about right now.
And his name isn't Floyd Mayweather. It's Juan Manuel Marquez.
Marquez has given Pac-Man tons of trouble in his career. Mayweather hasn't.
Marquez has taken Pacquiao to the wire twice, with two very close decisions. Mayweather hasn't.
Marquez is the only boxer in recent history to not come out a clear loser against Pacquiao. Mayweather isn't.
If Manny Pacquiao is smart, he'll ignore all the media and all the fans and forget about Floyd Mayweather Jr. because despite the 1-0-1 record against Marquez, he's yet to beat him.
Marquez is a hungry 38-year-old and if Pacquiao isn't fully ready for this fight, Marquez will find a way to come out on top this time.
With all of that being said, Pacquiao isn't the type of guy to come into a fight unprepared. He is, after all, the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world. He knows that Marquez is the one boxer he truly hasn't beaten and knows he still has to prove himself.
That's why Pacquiao is going to come out in a flurry. There's no way he's going to let the judges decide this one.
Pacquiao will knock out Marquez and prove to the world that there's only one boxer left on his list.
Floyd Mayweather.
Hopefully, "Money" will get that message. Hopefully, a Marquez knockout will finally make it clear to Mayweather that the only thing left that needs to happen is a bout between him and Pac-Man.
Hopefully. Hopefully. Hopefully.
So while it's hard to push aside the pressures of looking forward—heck, I even succumbed to those pressures in this article—Pacquiao needs to concentrate on Marquez and knock him out. Nothing else.
If he does that, then it will be time to look for Mayweather. And Mayweather will have no choice but to accept.
