Floyd Mayweather: Money Mayweather Gets Punishment He Can't Pay off

Alex KayNov 9, 2011

Floyd Mayweather Jr. was once again dealing with a legal issue, and this time he cannot settle it with cash out of court or pay off a miniscule fine.

The famous prizefighter was supposed to give a deposition, but was found by the court to have been at a nightclub literally burning money and throwing it into the crowd.

He told the judge he was resting and recovering from injuries sustained in a boxing match.

Mayweather now must spend forty hours with the Las Vegas Habitat for Humanity Project by January or face much harsher penalties.

This all stems from Mayweather being in court with Anthony Dash, a man accusing Mayweather of stealing a musical beat for his entrances to the ring during his WWE stints in 2008 and 2009.

Floyd and his lawyers kept delaying the depositions and hearings for various reasons that seemed plausible given the boxer’s high profile and intense training methods and unique circumstances surrounding a professional boxing career.

The judge started to get skeptical but did grant the delay after making the Mayweather camp pay for Dash’s legal fees.

Here is the part where it gets ridiculous. According to an Associated Press report,

"

A few days later, Dash's lawyers brought the judge video of Mayweather at the Echelon 3000 club outside Atlanta throwing money into a crowd and burning bills on the day the deposition was scheduled to take place. Anderson ruled Mayweather acted in bad faith by making his injuries sound worse than they were.

"

Now instead of giving Mayweather a fine for partying when he said he would be resting, the judge took those same unique circumstances that he was giving Mayweather the benefit of the doubt for and flipped them.

"

"At the parties in question, Mayweather can be seen burning money, allegedly one-hundred dollar bills, while in another video he throws money into the crowd. Mayweather often advertises himself using the moniker 'Money Mayweather' and his production company is Philthy Rich Records. Suffice it to say that Mayweather has substantial personal wealth," Judge Joseph F. Anderson Jr. wrote.

"

Mayweather had best clean up his act and make those court appearances instead of literally burning money. It won’t last forever, especially if you treat it that way.

Unless of course, he fights Manny Pacquiao. Then I think he will have enough money to burn forever.
