Texas vs. Missouri: TV Schedule, Live Stream, Radio, Game Time and More

Eric BowmanNov 8, 2011

The Missouri Tigers will host the Texas Longhorns on Saturday, hoping to end a six-game losing streak over their Big 12 foe.

In fact, the Tigers have only beaten the Longhorns once in the last 16 tries. However, the Longhorns aren't quite the powerhouse they once were, which is why this weekend will be a great game.

The Tigers are coming off a close loss to the Baylor Bears, whereas the Longhorns are on a two-game win streak after losing to Oklahoma and Oklahoma State in back-to-back weeks.

With Missouri leaving to the SEC next year, the Tigers will want to go out on a high note, but beating Texas is no easy task.

Both teams can't afford to lose another game this season, which is why Saturday will be an intense battle.

With that said, let's take a look at some specifics of this Big 12 showdown.

When: Saturday, Nov. 12 at 12:00 p.m. ET

Where: Faurot Field, Columbia, MO

Watch: FX

Listen: KVET 1300 AM in TX, KFEQ 680 AM in MO

Betting Line: Texas (-1)

Texas Injury Report

RB Malcolm Brown (toe) missed last week, but he is listed as probable for Saturday. WR Jaxon Shipley (knee) also missed last week, but he is listed as questionable.

Missouri Injury Report

WR Jerrell Jackson (hamstring), RB Henry Josey (shoulder) and QB James Franklin (hip) are all listed as probable. OL Travis Ruth (undisclosed) and Grant Ressel (hip) are listed as questionable.

BCS/Top 25 Implications

The Tigers are a long shot to get back into the polls, but a win over Texas would give them great confidence to finish the season strong. At 4-5, Missouri needs a win on Saturday in order to get a step closer to becoming bowl eligible.

For the Longhorns, a win on Saturday means they will continue to climb the rankings. However, a loss could drop from them from the polls altogether. Barring a miracle, the Longhorns are out of the BCS bowl picture, but if they keep winning, they will land in a great bowl game.

What They're Saying

The Longhorns are feeling good right now, having surpassed their win total from a year ago. Last year was a bad time for Texas, but 2011 is a new year, and the Longhorns are on a good roll.

Austin American-Statesman writer Kirk Bohls tweeted a quote from Mack Brown's press conference, and it certainly hits the point about how having poise changes everything.

It's a fantastic quote from the veteran head coach, and it's easy to see that his young team didn't have it last year.

Things are much different in 2011, and the Longhorns aren't losing games they should be winning, which is definitely a confidence boost. They're still not where they once were, but the Longhorns are absolutely on the right track.

All the talk about Missouri is related to its move to the SEC, so naturally, it's no surprise Tigers head coach Gary Pinkel is a little irked by all the conference questions.

Dave Matt of the Columbia Tribune tweeted how Pinkel reacted in his press conference about the Tigers decision to join the SEC.

You can't blame him for wanting to focus on the game against Texas, but this sort of stuff is bound to happen.

Conference realignment has been a crazy topic this season, and coaches obviously don't want to deal with it that much.

Texas Player to Watch

Malcolm Brown has been wearing a boot on his foot all week, but according to Bohls, it's just for caution. The freshman running back missed last week's rout over Texas Tech, but he is expected to play on Saturday.

Brown has been a bright spot for the Longhorns, rushing for 635 yards and five touchdowns. He's averaging 4.8 yards a carry, and has had three games of over 100 yards rushing, including a two-game streak prior to his injury.

If he doesn't play, then keep an eye on his backup, freshman Joe Bergeron, who rushed for 191 yards last week and 136 yards the week before.

Missouri Player to Watch

Sophomore running back Henry Josey is fourth in the nation with 1,149 rushing yards, and has rushed for 129 or more yards in his last four games.

Joesy is averaging 8.6 yards per carry and is extremely difficult to bring down. This will be the toughest defense Josey has faced all season, as the Longhorns rank No. 15 in the nation in total defense, so keep an eye on him to see how he fares.

Key Matchup

The Longhorns defense against Josey is the best matchup of Saturday's contest, and if Texas wants to win, they will have shut him down.

Josey has been on fire this year, but the Longhorns have the eighth best run defense in the country, only allowing 94 yards per game.

The last time Josey had a less than stellar game was against Kansas State, who happen to have the No. 12 run defense in the country. Texas should be able to handle Josey, but if they falter, the sophomore will make them pay.

Key Storyline

As mentioned before, this is the last time Texas and Missouri will meet as conference foes. With the Tigers headed to the SEC, there will be lots of motivation for both teams to get victory on Saturday.

Neither team can afford to lose for the rest of the season, but one team will walk away rather than upset this weekend. Nobody likes to lose, which is why Saturday will be a great game to watch.

Prediction

The ground and pound will be in full force for both teams on Saturday, but the stronger defense will have the edge. Even though this game is at Missouri, the Tigers will fail to fully excel on offense and they will come up short.

The Longhorns defense will prevail, and Brown and Bergeron will be running wild as Texas wins a close one.
