Week 10 Fantasy Rankings: Ranking the Top 10 at Every Position

Justin RunionNov 7, 2011

Week 9 was good to a lot of people.

Julio Jones finally broke through for a huge performance, catching his first two touchdown passes of his career.

Aaron Rodgers continued his absolute dominance and is on a torrid pace to shatter the record for the most fantasy points in a season.

However it is Vincent Jackson and not Rodgers who will be donning the title of Week 9's top performer (so far; Monday Night Football has yet to be played). Jackson caught seven passes for 141 yards and three touchdowns.

Week 10 is everyone's chance to play their best lineup, as there are no bye weeks this week.

Lets take a look at the Week 10 rankings.

Quarterbacks

1 of 6

1. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers

At this point in the season, I would have to be nuts to put Rodgers anywhere but first. He has too many weapons, and the Vikings' secondary will be no match.

Projected Points: 25

2. Michael Vick, Philadelphia Eagles

Judging from his performance against the Cowboys, Vick of 2010 may be on his way back. Arizona is no match for this talented Eagles offense, and Vick should have one of his best games of the season.

Projected Points: 24

T3. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints

Brees hasn't looked like himself the past couple of weeks, and Atlanta's secondary fared well against the Colts' passing attack ("attack" may be too strong, actually). We are on the verge of a huge day from Brees, and the Falcons are ranked 22nd in points given up to opposing quarterbacks.

Projected Points: 22

T3. Tim Tebow, Denver Broncos

His passing numbers are still terrible, but goal line work and the chance of 100 plus yards a game make him very playable.

Projected Points: 22

T3. Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers

Tennessee's secondary is one of the best Newton will have faced come next Sunday. However, due to Newton's ability to get it done on the ground, he remains in the top five.

Projected Points: 22

6. Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers

Forget Leon Hall—Darrelle Revis would have a hard time covering Mike Wallace. Antonio Brown and Emmanuel Sanders have also emerged as reliable targets for Big Ben.

Projected Points: 19

7. Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions

Although Stafford only managed 14 the first time these two faced this season, the Bears are still one of the worst teams in the NFL at defending the pass, so I don't see Stafford being contained very easily twice in a row.

Projected Points: 18

T8. Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers

He is still turning the ball over, but Rivers is finding the end zone a lot. Oakland's secondary doesn't offer much of a challenge.

Projected Points: 17

T8. Ryan Fitzpatrick, Buffalo Bills

Fitzpatrick has a lot he can work with against a struggling Cowboys secondary. Add in the fact that Dallas will have its hands full with Fred Jackson, and you open up a pretty good chance for Fitz to succeed.

Projected Points: 17

T10. Tom Brady, New England Patriots

Brady struggled throughout the game against the Giants, but found his rhythm in the latter part of the fourth quarter, so as to not disappoint the Brady faithful. Brady had 14 the first time around, and I expect more of the same against the Jets the second time.

Projected Points: 16

T10. Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons

Ryan had a good day against the Colts, racking up some 20 points Sunday. New Orleans should struggle to cover Julio Jones, Tony Gonzalez and Roddy White at the same time.

Projected Points: 16

T10. Tony Romo. Dallas Cowboys

The Bills are ranked 21st against opposing quarterbacks, and their secondary hasn't seen anything like Bryant, Austin and Robinson.

Projected Points: 16

Top Quarterback on Waivers: Carson Palmer

Running Backs

2 of 6

1. Arian Foster, Houston Texans

Foster will be the fourth running back to put up a huge day against the Bucs.

Projected Points: 24

2. LeSean McCoy, Philadelphia Eagles

The Cardinals' D will be no match for one of the best running backs in the NFL.

Projected Points: 23

3. Michael Turner, Atlanta Falcons

Steven Jackson ravaged the Saints to the tune of 150-plus and three touchdowns in Week 8. Don't expect much less here.

Projected Points: 22

4. Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings

Green Bay will be one of Peterson's toughest matchups of the season, but he can be extremely difficult for even the best defenses to contain.

Projected Points: 20

5. Ray Rice, Baltimore Ravens

Seattle's run D showed some holes against Dallas Saturday, and we all know Baltimore's O-Line is better than Dallas'.

Projected Points: 20

6. Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville Jaguars

Jones-Drew is off to one of his slower fantasy seasons, but Indianapolis is an extremely tasty matchup. Look for Jones-Drew to flourish.

Projected Points: 19

7. Matt Forte, Chicago Bears

He had 14 against the Lions in their first matchup, but Forte failed to find the end zone. He gets there this week, either through the running or receiving game.

Projected Points: 18

8. Darren McFadden, Oakland Raiders

I'm pretty sure McFadden will play against the Chargers, but this being a Thursday night game, he won't have had as much time to heal.

Bush gets more carries than usual, but McFadden still produces. I don't feel like the huge upside is there, however, so in salaried money leagues like Fanduel.com and Draftstreet.com, I would stay away.

Projected Points: 16

9. Chris Johnson, Tennessee Titans

Johnson impressed me last week in the first half, but he still hasn't done enough for me yet.

However, this is a very good matchup for him.

Projected Points: 16

T10. DeMarco Murray, Dallas Cowboys

I think Murray has just about locked up the starting job after his performance against a stout Seattle D, but Felix Jones should be back this week, so Murray's carries will drop slightly.

Projected Points: 15

T10. Rashard Mendenhall, Pittsburgh Steelers

Cincinnati won't be able to stop both the Pittsburgh passing and rushing attack, and I think the Steelers will run often in this one.

Projected Points: 15

Note: I still believe Fred Jackson is one of the best running backs in the NFL, but I don't think he will produce much more than 13 or 14 against a very good Cowboys run D.

Top Running Back on Waivers: Kendall Hunter

Wide Receivers

3 of 6

1. Calvin Johnson, Detroit Lions

Surprise, Surprise. His end zone production alone warrants him the No. 1 spot.

Projected Points: 19

2. Greg Jennings, Green Bay Packers

Jennings was a bit disappointing against San Diego, contributing only 10 points. Expect a bounce-back against a defense that is much stronger against the run than the pass.

Projected Points: 18

3. Mike Wallace, Pittsburgh Steelers

Although Antonio Brown receives as many targets as Wallace, the threat of him catching one deep is always on the horizon.

Projected Points: 18

4. Vincent Jackson, San Diego Chargers

Expect a major cool down from his 31 points, but Jackson is still seeing nearly 10 targets a game. Couple that with him finding the end zone at least once, and you have a big day.

Projected Points: 17

5. Andre Johnson, Houston Texans

I feel like I am setting myself up for disappointment, but if he plays, Johnson is a solid bet for 15-plus every week.

Projected Points: 16

6. A.J. Green, Cincinnati Bengals

I don't think Cincinnati can keep this one close, which means Dalton will go to the air a lot.

Projected Points: 16

7. Brandon Marshall, Miami Dolphins

Marshall finally found the end zone last week, and he is still the league leader in red zone targets. This is an incredibly good matchup, and he will probably finish higher.

Projected Points: 16

8. Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons

Although Jones only had three catches, I really feel like he has become the spark plug of this offense overnight. We already know he can catch double-digit passes a game, and we know he has a taste for the end zone—expect him to keep getting there.

Projected Points: 15

9. Wes Welker, New England Patriots

Revis Island gave up 12 points to Welker, which astonished me, in their first matchup. Still, he is Tom Brady's favorite target and could bust out a huge play at any time.

Projected Points: 14

T10. Anquan Boldin, Baltimore Ravens

Boldin gets the first look every time in the end zone, which makes him invaluable. An extremely easy matchup against Seattle makes him even more desirable.

Projected Points: 14

T10. Victor Cruz, New York Giants

Whether or not Hakeem Nicks plays, Cruz won't see the best CB San Francisco has to offer. It isn't unrealistic to picture a big day from him this week.

Projected Points: 13

Ranking to 10 doesn't leave me with as much room as I would like with these rankings. Dez Bryant, Miles Austin, Roddy White, Jeremy Maclin and Hakeem Nicks are all very good plays this week, so keep them in the lineup.

Top Wide Receiver on Waivers: Antonio Brown

Tight Ends

4 of 6

1. Antonio Gates, San Diego Chargers

He's back. Gates looked good against a Green Bay defense, and Oakland offers a much softer matchup.

Projected Points: 15

2. Rob Gronkowski, New England Patriots

Gronkowski is Brady's go-to-guy in the end zone, and with Welker in tight coverage Gronkowski may get even more looks than usual.

Projected Points: 14

3. Tony Gonzalez, Atlanta Falcons

New Orleans is a good matchup for Gonzalez, and he is a good value grab on sites like fanduel.com and draftstreet.com.

Projected Points: 14

4. Jimmy Graham, New Orleans Saints

I think Graham is the most talented receiving tight end in the NFL, and this matchup is golden. But every time I rank him first, he has an off-week (I've only done that twice).

Projected Points: 14

5. Jason Witten, Dallas Cowboys

He looked like the Pro Bowl tight end we have come to know and love against Seattle, and Buffalo doesn't pose a much harder matchup.

Projected Points: 13

6. Jake Ballard, New York Giants

Eli loves Ballard, and he should get looks in the end zone against a very stout San Francisco rushing D.

Projected Points: 12

7. Brent Celek, Philadelphia Eagles

I only have one week to go off of (he hasn't played his MNF game against the Bears yet), but Vick used Celek a lot against the Cowboys. Stand by for his game against the Bears, then form your own opinion.

Projected Points: 10

8. Jermichael Finley, Green Bay Packers

Finley has definitely been the biggest bust I was high on going into the season, and the breakout play of Jordy Nelson and James Jones has really hindered his targets.

Projected Points: 9

9. Owen Daniels, Houston Texans

Joel Dreessen has cut into his looks, but Daniels is still the better of the two.

Projected Points: 8

10. Fred Davis, Washington Redskins

Davis probably deserves to be ranked higher, but until I see a big performance, I can't be convinced.

Projected Points: 8

Top Tight End on Waivers: Jared Cook

Kickers

5 of 6

1. Jason Hanson, 14 points

2. Dan Bailey, 12 points

3. Billy Cundiff, 12 points

4. Mike Nugent, 10 points

5. Jon Kasay, 10 points

6. Mason Crosby, 9 points

7. Matt Bryant, 8 points

8. David Akers, 8 points

9. Nick Novak, 8 points

10. Sebastian Janikowski, 6 points

Defenses

6 of 6

1. Baltimore Ravens (vs. Seattle Seahawks)

2. Green Bay Packers (vs. Minnesota Vikings)

3. New York Giants (vs. San Francisco 49ers)

4. Cleveland Browns (vs. St. Louis Rams)

5. Pittsburgh Steelers (vs. Cincinnati Bengals)

6. Philadelphia Eagles (vs. Arizona Cardinals)

7. Jacksonville Jaguars (vs. Indianapolis Colts)

8. Cincinnati Bengals (vs. Pittsburgh Steelers)

9. Kansas City Chiefs (vs. Denver Broncos)

10. Seattle Seahawks (vs. Baltimore Ravens)

I'm not going to be like ESPN and try projecting points for defenses—and fail miserably.
