BCS Rankings: 4 Reasons LSU Won't Finish Season No. 1
After the dubbed "Game of the Century" came to a close, it was the LSU Tigers who were celebrating in Tuscaloosa, not the hometown Crimson Tide.
In a game where the nation's top two teams squared off in a battle of stingy defenses, there was much to be desired offensively. However, anyone expecting an offensive shootout hasn't been watching these two teams play all season.
While both offenses are certainly capable of putting points on the board, the defensive reputations of the two respected squads far outweigh that of the offense.
Unfortunately, after the game people were too quick to jump on the LSU bandwagon, claiming them national champions and No. 1 for the rest of the season.
To those people, I say that there is plenty of football to be played.
Who Is LSU's QB?
1 of 4Jarret Lee was LSU's guy to start the year with Jordan Jefferson suspended.
He dominated early and the Tigers were rolling. However, upon Jefferson's return, questions started to surface.
While Lee held on to the job for some time, after last night's performance, the clarity on who the starter is has vanished.
Neither quarterback wowed against Alabama, but Jefferson certainly played better than Lee.
Jefferson may get more looks in the coming games, but who the primary player will be is yet to be determined.
Arkansas Is Still Waiting
2 of 4After LSU beat Alabama, people suddenly forgot the Tigers have another Top-10 team on their schedule. The Arkansas Razorbacks are no slouch, and they are hoping that the Tigers come in too confident.
The Razorbacks look like a team with more to prove, and what better shot than to take down the nation's top team in the last week of the regular season?
Off the Field Issues Will Eventually Come Back to Bite Them
3 of 4The Tigers are so disciplined on the field but so undisciplined off of it.
If there are any more Tyrann Matheiu or Jordan Jefferson-like issues, you have to think that the team will start to lose focus in the locker room. These kids aren't in the pros yet and can't always handle distractions that well.
If LSU is serious about keeping their dominant football up, they better clean up their off-field attitude before things start getting uneven in the locker room.
The SEC Championship
4 of 4LSU just might win out the season and beat the Arkansas Razorbacks.
However, the problem with the SEC is that there are almost too many dominant teams. LSU will certainly see that as they battle in the SEC Championship against the team with the best record in the Eastern Division
Staying No. 1 will be far from easy, but if LSU wins out, then they definitely deserve it.
