Patrice Bergeron played a great game as well, adding three assists in addition to his usual solid defensive play.
After taking a 1-0 lead in the first period on a sweet Tyler Seguin powerplay goal, the Bruins exploded for four goals in the second, blowing the game open.
Seguin's play was amazing, and he showed why many believe he will be a superstar player for many seasons to come.
His offense was fabulous and his goals weren't just normal scores, they were three very nice goals. Seguin leads the Bruins in points (14), goals (7), and is tied with Patrice Bergeron in assists (7).
It was a great performance by the entire Bruins team, who were ready to go off the opening faceoff. After a terrible start to the season, the Bruins offense is finally hitting their stride.
The sloppy mistakes they were making in the first few weeks are rarely seen anymore, and the team looks more in sync with each other.
Boston's powerplay also looked good tonight, and overall the unit was 1/2. The Bruins looked sharper and crisper with their passes on the powerplay and were just more aggressive in their approach, which is an encouraging sign.
The goaltending, which has been good all season, was again great on Saturday. Tim Thomas played very well against the Leafs for his first shutout of the season.
The Bruins were physical and fundamentally sound against the Leafs, and they'll be able to build on this win and make it a turning point in their season.
The season is long and not won or lost in the first month or two. Despite their poor start, the Bruins have gotten down to business and have corrected several of the mistakes that were hurting them early in the year.
The team finally looks headed in the right direction.
