Pacquiao vs. Marquez: Why Marquez Will Get Knocked out

Josh SchochNov 9, 2011

When Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez fight on Saturday, the image will be Pacman in triumph and Manuel on the canvas.

This is the third fight between these two. While the first two brought controversy with Marquez saying he was cheated, this one will prove that Pacquiao is truly the better fighter.

The first fight in 2004 was a draw that Marquez felt he actually won. Then in 2008 the two fought again, with Pacquiao winning in a split decision. Once again Marquez felt that he won.

Marquez has said that he has already beaten Pacquiao twice even though his record clearly shows that he has not.

There is some bad blood between these two that has stemmed from Marquez's, well, arrogance. In fact, this may be the first fight Pacquiao has fought in where there is tension between him and his opponent. If he has fought this well while staying calm, I don't think I even want to see what he does when he's angry.

Who am I kidding? Of course, I do!

With Marquez in the twilight of his career and Pacquiao in great shape, this fight has trouble written all over it for Marquez.

In a recent interview with Boxing Press on November 3 Pacquiao had this to say about how his training has helped him for this fight: "I trained hard for this fight and feel strong....I think I am better now because of my right hand. There is also a big difference in my power and moving up in weight from our last fights is going to be a big difference. I move better now too.”

Pacquiao is very confident in himself to win this fight, and while he wouldn't guarantee a knockout, he hinted that it would happen.

Pacquiao's ability is not the only reason he is in for the knockout. Marquez has had to add quite a bit of weight for this fight (roughly 10-15 pounds), and he is going to be fighting at his heaviest weight yet.

Marquez has not had success when he is forced to add on weight. In his fight against Floyd Mayweather, Marquez was blown away in a unanimous decision when he fought at around 140 pounds. Marquez lost 120-107, 119-108, 118-109 and proved that he is a poor fighter when forced to add weight.

Marquez being forced to fight at his heaviest weight yet spells trouble, as he will not be fast enough to land punches on Pacquiao.

His inability to adjust to different weights is going to hurt Marquez, helping Pacquiao to a knockout, hopefully silencing Marquez's rants that he was cheated in the first two fights.
