2011 Breeders' Cup Post Positions: Secret Circle To Start Weekend with Bang
The Breeders' Cup starts on Friday and it's all about the ladies. But the first race features a young male horse that is primed to deliver in a big way.
Bob Baffert should be sticking his chest out all morning as he has the odds-on favorite to take the opening race at the Breeders' Cup. Secret Circle is a 6-to-5 morning line and has what should be considered an unnecessary advantage.
The colt has been hot lately, winning his first race on Polytrack by 7 1/4 lengths at Del Mar, then notching a dominant win at the six-furlong Jack Goodman on dirt at Santa Anita by 5 1/4 lengths.
Friday afternoon should be no different, as the most predictable race of the weekend takes place. If speed and endurance were not already Secret Circle's, he also has prime post position.
The short track means post position adds a modicum of advantage. Secret Circle gets all that such advantage will warrant as he comes from the No. 7 post.
It seems almost unfair that a colt with so much promise also lucked out in the draw as well. This will be a fine two-day affair that will culminate in some very dramatic storylines.
We can all hardly wait to see how Uncle Mo delivers on the big stage after so much hype. However, the Breeders' Cup will likely start off with a bang, as Secret Circle has the goods to delight from the beginning.
It's his race to lose on a day geared for fillies. Somehow, a colt may find his way into the headlines after all.
