Phil Simms Destroys Credibility by Dissing Andrew Luck
Phil Simms is either blind or the worst talent evaluator in the history of the NFL. There is no other way to explain his analysis of Andrew Luck.
Simms sat down with Adam Schein for an interview on Sirius radio, and had the following assessment of Luck:
Maybe Simms is confused as to which player is actually Luck. There are really very few other logical explanations for this.
I mean, if he wants to criticize Luck, that is fine. However, this was the wrong angle to take to go about it. Luck makes at least a couple of throws almost every week that would make most NFL QBs jealous.
Just look at this video:
When looking for NFL throws, you typically look for how a QB throws the out route and how they throw the deep ball.
It takes a special arm to be able to zip in a deep out. Some NFL QBs can't even do it. Luck can zip in those outs no problem, and does so with a picture-perfect release.
The other throw is the deep ball.
Time and again, Luck has shown that he can drill the deep throw, and he can do it on the run or in the pocket.
Luck plays in a Stanford system that does not rely on him showing off NFL throws all game long. Most of the passes are over the middle and in the seams, or quick passes to the flat.
Maybe Simms has only seen those parts of Stanford games.
