LSU vs. Alabama: Alabama Football Will Be No. 1 in BCS Rankings for Rest of Year
The Alabama Crimson Tide are going to beat the LSU Tigers this weekend and lock up the No. 1 spot in the BCS rankings for the rest of the season.
How could they not, unless they have an absolute meltdown?
This Saturday’s 8:00 p.m. EDT matchup against LSU is pretty much, for all intents and purposes, for the right to play in the BCS Championship game this season, and both teams damn well know it.
Just look at the schedules for both teams after the Nov. 5 "Judgment Day" showdown.
Alabama travels to Mississippi State, who isn’t awful, but hasn’t lived up to expectations this season; hosts Georgia Southern, an FCS school; and then finishes the season with a tough but winnable game at Auburn.
LSU has a little bit of a rougher going. They host Western Kentucky, travel to Ole Miss and finish up with a huge battle in Death Valley against a motivated Arkansas team.
Either team is very, very likely to win out, go undefeated, win the SEC Championship and compete in the BCS national title game if they manage to pull out a victory here.
That’s what makes this game so important.
I just think Alabama is the better team with the better coach and the better players who will get it done at home on Saturday.
Alabama is 25-1 in its last 26 home games and has only allowed a single 100-plus-yard rusher in its last 55 games. The Crimson Tide also rank first in a ton of top defensive categories and should absolutely smother this LSU team.
This game will be extremely close because both teams excel on defense and seem to just "get by" on offense if their running game is shut down.
Nick Saban should just have his boys more prepared and ready to win a national championship, which basically happens if they win Saturday.
