Breeders' Cup 2011: Trainer Todd Pletcher Will Continue Horse Racing Reign
The 2011 Breeders' Cup takes place on November 5th at Churchill Downs, and it's no surprise that one of Todd Pletcher's horses has been named the favorite.
Uncle Mo is favored at 5/2, which further strengthens the legacy of Pletcher. He's a top-notch horse trainer that's won several accolades in horse racing.
Pletcher has won four consecutive Eclipse Awards as outstanding Trainer of the Year, and led everyone in purse earnings multiple times during his career.
With two horses entered in the 2011 Breeders' Cup, the chances of Pletcher getting another victory are very strong.
When Uncle Mo was announced the favorite, the cocky trainer told reporters he knew it would happen. Per Courier-Journal:
""I wasn’t surprised he was made the favorite. I anticipated him to be in that range, somewhere at 3-1 or so. He’s a good horse getting away from the gate. He’s doing as well as he can be doing. It’s a tall order. We’ve come a long way since May, and we’re hoping we can get all the way there."
"
Uncle Mo drew post No. 12, and Plethcer's other horse, Stay Thirsty, drew post No. 9.
Stay Thirsty is 12/1 odds to win the 2011 Breeders' Cup, and while that may seem like a long shot it certainly isn't out of the question.
The horse had a rough going at the Kentucky Derby, but Stay Thirsty finished second at the Belmont Stakes, and has placed in the top three of his last four races.
Uncle Mo won the 2010 Breeders' Cup Juvenile, and has a great shot to win the Classic and that $5 million purse this year.
Pletcher has done a great job over the years with so many different horses, and his reign will continue after both his horses put in a solid showing at the 2011 Breeders' Cup.
