2011 Breeders' Cup Odds: Why Favorite Uncle Mo Won't Win
The Breeders’ Cup Classic has one of the richest prizes in all of horse racing, as the winner will get a nice $5 million prize.
There has been a lot of chatter already coming from the horse racing community saying where horses will break from, like Sky Sports:
But the opening favorite of this prestigious race is the horse Uncle Mo. As Mo, who is trained by Todd Pletcher and will be ridden by John Velazquez, was the odds on favorite to win the $5 million prize.
According to Michael Buteau for Bloomberg, "Uncle Mo won last year’s Breeder’s Cup Juvenile, a 1 1/16th-mile race for 2-year-olds. He will compete against 12 horses in the 1 1/4-mile Classic on Nov. 5. The 28th Breeders’ Cup Championships, which consist of 14 races with $26 million in purses, starts Nov. 4."
However, the real favorite, for those of you that are putting money down on this big event, is Game On Dude, who is being trained by the legend Bob Baffert. Game On Dude is running from the No. 8 post with Chantal Sutherland riding the 10-1 favorite.
Game On Dude is not only a dark horse to win this event, but with Chantal riding the horse, she has the chance as the first female jockey to win the Classic.
If Game On Dude is not going to take down Uncle Mo, then the task will fall onto the powerful legs of Havre de Grace. The filly, starting in the No. 10 post, is looking to become the second filly to win the Cup and is listed right behind Mo, as a 3-1 favorite.
Finally, New Zealand’s So You Think is coming from the No. 5 post and is third in the odds at 5-1 with Flat Out at 6-1 coming from the No. 2 post.
With $5 million up for grabs, this horse race is anyones for the taking. Uncle Mo will have the most action getting placed on him, but the smart money is taking Game On Dude, who will be the one that takes the prize in the end, dude.
