WWE: 8 People Who Could Replace Teddy Long as Smackdown GM

David LevinNov 1, 2011

If there are going to be sweeping changes in the WWE, then why not make it a complete makeover?

While the Raw brand is "looking" for a new general manager, with John (VP of...) Laurinaitis, assuming the "interim" role, why not make changes like I stated in my other slideshow? Smackdown needs some liveliness and some changes and some drama.

Teddy Long, for all that he knows in this business, is nothing more than a "yes" man and does not appear to be too convincing about how much stroke he has.

And as you know, there are always wrestlers and people in the "know" that can fill his position and possibly do a better job.

8. Stephanie McMahon

1 of 8

Let's start with the one of the usual suspects.

McMahon hasn't been in the spotlight much over the past few years, but she has been seen on the screen in small amounts.

Her attitude and demeanor shows she means business and will take the job seriously, and help both her father and her husband.

7. Steve Austin

2 of 8

I like this choice, but I don't see it happening.

Everyone give me a "Hell, Yeah."

Austin is the one enforcer who can take crap and give it back.

I would love Austin and someone like Christian to mix it up a bit.

6. Mick Foley

3 of 8

The reports of him coming back to WWE have been all the rage. He wants to get back into the ring.

What if he does that and then works on helping to write and make matches that make sense?

Foley has a finger on the pulse of what can and cannot work with this brand.

His selection makes great sense.

5. Triple H

4 of 8

He was brutally attacked and is supposed to be out of action, or in other words, off television.

Triple H is the COO of the company which means he can do what he wants and hire and fire whom he chooses.

If he were on Smackdown (another slideshow coming), he could handle the stale mess that has taken place and make more creative decisions that would break the monotony.

He would be a welcomed edition.

4. David Otunga

5 of 8

Yes, this is a shot at humor.

He does have a law degree, just ask him.

Otunga is the biggest waste of space on television and would prove to be another failed attempt at trying to make the new WWE more wrestler-friendly.

A really bad move by the company if that happens, but you never know with this company.

3. Vickie Guerrero

6 of 8

She has done it before.

Guerrero has a place in this brand, but can't you see her losing some of her power if Christian's influence takes center stage?

I think her pain-in-the-ass attitude is welcomed, but we don't have to like it.

2. John Laurinaitis

7 of 8

If he does not become GM on Raw, then he could be GM on Smackdown.

Laurinaitis doesn't do anything that makes me want to watch Raw. So why would I want him on the lead show?

Besides, I would love to watch Johnny Ace tell Big Show he cannot wrestle Mark Henry.

1. William Regal

8 of 8

He is my dark-horse candidate.

There are so many great things that can be done with his character.

Regal is from the old school and is a no-nonsense brawler who will set the tone for the brand early and will not back down from a good fight.

He is PERFECT for this role.
