Martinez's promoter Lou DiBella as quoted by Michael Marley on Examiner.com:

"

"Yes, we will take that fight at 150 pounds and no, we will not be excessive in our financial demands.

"Sergio feels that he, and not Pacquiao or Mayweather, is the world's best pound for pound and he is more than ready to match his skills against Manny. I give Manny all the credit in the world for being man enough to take this fight."

About Martinez

Martinez is currently a middleweight champion. He is commonly regarded as the third best pound-for-pound boxer behind Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather.

He is 5'10" and fighting at 150 pounds would require him to drop some weight.

What a Win Would Mean to Pacquiao

If Pacquiao were to take on this fight and win it, he would be the undisputed king of boxing. Not even Floyd Mayweather could talk himself into believing he had a right to be called the best pound-for-pound fighter.

This wouldn't just elevated Pacquiao in contemporary light either. It would boost his all-time status.

Why Pacquiao Needs to Make This Fight Happen

Other than a fight with Mayweather—which seems increasingly unlikely—there is nothing else Manny can do to enhance his legacy.

He is about to turn 33, and his time to box while in his peak is quickly evaporating.

This is the perfect time for him to give himself the ultimate test, and this is the perfect opportunity.
