UFC 137 Results 3 Things We Learned About Nick Diaz
Not only was Nick Diaz's fight against B.J. Penn fun to watch, it was also very telling about Nick Diaz as a fighter.
The facts that Diaz is a cardiovascular giant and that his patented "Stockton Slap" style is an effective weapon are well known, but there were other lessons learned about Diaz that fans either didn't know or denied (and continue to deny).
What was revealed at UFC 137? Read and find out!
Nick Diaz Only Has
1 of 3Nick Diaz has done plenty of awkward interviews and ducked more than a few press conferences and media events. This has lead to many believing that he has some form of social anxiety.
However, it seems that Diaz is only "afraid" to speak to the media when it's convenient for him.
Immediately after beating B.J. Penn, Diaz called out UFC welterweight Georges St. Pierre and then went on quite a bizarre tirade at the post-fight press conference.
Diaz may be a little strange, but he's not afraid to talk to people. If anything, he's secretly a brilliant self-promoter since he was catapulted to stardom by his antics.
His Wrestling Still Needs Work
2 of 3When B.J. Penn was fresh, he was able took take Diaz down easily. But after Penn had been battered with body shots and forced to work at the exhausting pace Diaz set, he wasn't able to take the Stockton brawler down anymore.
If Penn, a fighter whose wrestling was never exactly his strong point could take Diaz down, what would a fighter with wrestling like Georges St-Pierre do to Diaz?
Diaz Has a Chin
3 of 3People may have questioned Diaz's chin after getting floored in the Paul Daley fight, but Diaz proved in the fight against Penn that it's made of stern stuff.
He was hit multiple times throughout the fight (with most of the best shots landing in the first round) and was unfazed by the same strikes that gave fighters such as Kenny Florian, Diego Sanchez and Sean Sherk to much trouble.
