Fantasy Football Week 15 Rankings: Wide Receivers

Michael WhooleyDec 10, 2008

With Week 15 being the playoff semifinals for most fantasy football, leagues there couldn't be a better time to check out the Bruno Boys' rankings to help you secure a spot in your leagues title game. Remember it's all about the matchups at this point of the season.

If you have a big name who is struggling and takes on a tough opponent you might want to consider benching him for the option that has been more stable of late. As always, you have to go with your gut, but use these rankings as a guide to see trends and matchups that should help you make the final decision.

With that being said, it's time to check out the Bruno Boys Week 15 Wide Receiver Rankings to see how your player projects amongst the rest.

--------------------

1. Steve Smith (Carolina Panthers) vs. Denver

In Week 14 against a tough Tampa Bay pass defense, Smith went for 117 receiving yards and a touchdown. The veteran has gone for over 100 receiving yards and three straight games and the writing is on the wall for him to do it again, as the Broncos allow 231 yards per game against the pass and are likely to be without Champ Bailey. Consider Smith a lock to hit the century mark and to find the end zone.

2. Larry Fitzgerald (Arizona Cardinals) vs. Minnesota

Leapin' Larry has used two consecutive big weeks to surpass teammate Anquan Boldin as the No. 1 rated fantasy wide receiver. He still isn't racking up the receiving yards like he was earlier in the season, but he has found pay dirt three times in two games and looks to be getting more targets around the goal line.

Plus, the last time he took on Minnesota, he torched them for 172 receiving yards on 11 receptions.

3. Brandon Marshall (Denver Broncos) @ Carolina

After a streak of subpar games fantasy owners had reason to be concerned about Marshall. However, he silenced all of the critics in Week 14, as he went for 91 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 11 receptions. With the Broncos expected to throw on just about every down this is a great week to play Marshall, especially since the Panthers defense has struggled of late.

Point Projection: 15 points

4. Greg Jennings (Green Bay Packers) @ Jacksonville

Last year Jennings proved he is one of the best deep threats in football, this year he proved that he is one of the best wide receivers in all of football. He has scored at least seven fantasy points in all but one game this year and has 10+ points in eight games thus far.

His Week 15 opponent, Jacksonville, has allowed 21 touchdowns this season and that's enough to guarantee you that Jennings scores one this week. Sound Good?

Point Projection: 15 points

5. Terrell Owens (Dallas Cowboys) vs. New York Giants

Earlier this year, the Giants held Owens to just 36 receiving yards and a touchdown, but that was with Brad Johnson under center. With quarterback Tony Romo back, T.O has scored in three straight games and we like his chances to make it four straight games with a touchdown against the Giants.

6. Anquan Boldin (Arizona Cardinals) vs. Minnesota

In what is considered shocking news, Boldin has just four and six fantasy points over the last two games. As teams start putting an emphasis on shutting him down, it's led to the re-emergence of Larry Fitzgerald.

However, we project the Cardinals to throw upwards of 40 times in this football game and Boldin should be good for 80 yards and a touchdown. In fact, we think he scores on a bubble screen around the goal line (watch it happen).

Point Projection: 14 points

7. Calvin Johnson (Detroit Lions) @ Indianapolis

At this point of the season does it really matter what the matchup is for Megatron? Despite having just 56 receptions, he has scored a touchdown in eight games this season (9 TD's total) and even with Bob Sanders back in Indianapolis the Colts should have trouble shutting down the Lions star.

The Colts have allowed just four passing TD's this year, but Johnson will be sure to add to that total.

Point Projection: 14 points
