NFL Week 8 Picks: Which Teams Simply Don't Stand a Chance?

Andrea HangstOct 25, 2011

Two teams this week are walking into the lion's den, and it's not likely they will leave it without being mauled.

The Arizona Cardinals travel to Baltimore to take on the Ravens just six days removed from their embarrassing loss at the hands of the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Ravens will be searching for redemption and should get it, in a big way, by taking on and handily dispatching the woeful Cardinals.

The Ravens gained just 112 passing yards, most of which game in the fourth quarter, and a dismal 34 rushing yards in their 12-7 loss to the Jaguars. The Cardinals are going to face the brunt of their rage this Sunday, and it's going to be quite the bloodbath in Baltimore, where the Ravens are undefeated so far this season.

Another team being fed to the sharks this week is the Cleveland Browns, who take on the San Francisco 49ers on their home turf. The 5-1 Niners are the NFL's most surprising dominant team this season, rising from the muck and the mire that is the NFC West into a bona fide league powerhouse.

The Browns lack the talent on both sides of the ball to pose any kind of significant threat to San Francisco this Sunday and aren't just going to come up short—they're going to get positively annihilated.

Out of seemingly nowhere, Niners quarterback Alex Smith has become the type of passer that Browns quarterback Colt McCoy wishes he were: A useful game manager who neither does too much nor too little behind his team's solid running attack.

And on Sunday, McCoy will wish he was anywhere else than San Francisco as he stares down one of the most brutal defenses in the NFL. It won't be hard for the Niners to reach a convincing sixth win.
