The 10 Scariest Faces in Boxing History
The sport of boxing is a brutal sport with some of the most intimidating athletes in all of sports. For some, you may even go as far as calling them scary.
Some are scary because one look at them, and you'll get shivers down your spine, knowing the guy is as bad as they come; others are scary because they would scare the average kid once they caught a glimpse of them walking down the street.
So to get you in the Halloween spirit, here are the 10 scariest faces in the history of boxing.
Ricardo Mayorga
1 of 10Ricardo Mayorga is definitely one of the scariest faces that falls on the creepy side.
He is reminiscent of the character in the movie Beetlejuice whose head gets shrunken by the voodoo character and has a head too small for his body.
The only thing missing is the unusually high voice, and you would have a dead ringer for the character.
Bernard Hopkins
2 of 10Bernard Hopkins uses his nickname of The Executioner to try and psych his opponent out while walking to the ring with an executioner's mask on and a hooded robe.
All you need to do to make Hopkins more scary, and a perfect character for any haunted house, is take off the mask, as his face is even more scary than the anonymous mask-wearing ring walk that he has made so famous.
This is one of those unique examples of a person's everyday face being scarier than any mask he can put on.
Daniel Ponce De Leon
3 of 10Former featherweight champ Daniel Ponce De Leon was scarier than his skinny frame gave him credit for.
With his squarish head shape and overly prominent brow bones on his face, he resembles a mini-me for the classic horror monster Frankenstein.
De Leon is a terror in the ring, and has some terror in the ring left for his upcoming opponents despite losing his last two fights in controversial style.
Samuel Peter
4 of 10Nicknamed the "Nigerian Nightmare," Samuel Peter has the look to give anyone nightmares just by remembering the scary mug on this heavyweight.
Given the nickname after winning 17 of his first 18 fights by KO victory, Peter may have used his scary look to his advantage more than one time.
The "Nigerian Nightmare" had a nightmare of a time against the Klitschko brothers, as he is the only boxer to lose to both Vitali and Wladimir.
Zab Judah
5 of 10Light welterweight fighter Zab Judah looks an alien from Area 51, not the Brooklyn area.
Judah had scary moves in the ring to go with his scary looks, and still can intimidate his opponents with a mere stare in their direction.
He'll definitely not have to don a costume to scare the kids who come knocking on his door on Halloween.
Chris Arreola
6 of 10Chris Arreola has that kind of unpredictable, sketchy-looking-character kind of scary look.
He has the look of that villain in a movie that is the silent type who doesn't look too bright but ends up being the hit man and takes people out one by one.
Although he has an impressive record at 33-2 with 28 KOs, he has lost the two biggest fights of his career—against Vitali Klitschko and Tomasz Adamek—and like the average hit-man, villain type in a movie, he has been taken out by the best of the best that he has faced.
Kimbo Slice
7 of 10Although he is new to the world of boxing, longtime street fighting and MMA freak show Kimbo Slice looks like that homeless guy you see on the street that you know has done some time and is the last person you want to make any kind of eye contact with.
With his menacing stare, along with his poofy, rugged beard, Kimbo has one of the scariest staredowns in the business, but his scary looks don't always translate to frightening action in the ring.
Nikolai Valuev
8 of 10Appearing to be half-man, half-werewolf, the oddity with a hairy forehead could make Frankenstein scared and walk in the other direction if he saw Nikolai Valuev walking down the street.
A real-life monster, standing 7'2" tall, he is the definition of scary and only lost two fights his entire 53-bout career.
He has had a successful career outside of boxing as an actor, and one film he would be perfect for is a "David and Goliath" remake.
Floyd Mayweather Sr.
9 of 10Floyd Mayweather, Sr. has always been a scary-looking dude, but when he grew out his hair into dreadlocks, he took his scariness to a whole other level.
Mayweather Sr. was a dead ringer for the alien creature Arnold Schwarzenegger was battling in a jungle in the movie The Predator.
In the jungle or not, if you saw Mayweather Sr. walking your way, you might reach for an M-16 with your finger on the trigger, ready for the alien-esque creature to make his first wrong move.
Mike Tyson
10 of 10"Iron" Mike Tyson was the most dominant force to ever hit boxing early on in his career, and had his opponents scared out of their mind with one mean stare in their direction.
He fed of his opponents' fear; he attacked them and took them out like a shark hunting its prey.
Even later on in his career, when it was more about the sideshow than the actual boxing with Tyson, getting a tattoo on his face just made a scary-looking monster that much more scary.
He could scare anyone within a few feet around him, even before he told you he wanted to eat your children.
