TNA Impact Wrestling: Everything Should Start and End with Roode and Storm

David LevinOct 25, 2011

Right now, TNA Impact Wrestling is in a very good position.

While many feel the Bound for Glory PPV  was weak and did not accomplish what it set out to do (I am one of those people, but thought the PPV was pretty good), followed by a title change that made little sense, I have news for you: Everything is moving in the right direction.

I'm a repetitive soap box, I know it, and I am here to shed some light on this topic. TNA is moving toward the light, and everything about it screams "SUCCESS" right now because it starts and ends with two TNA Originals, Bobby Roode and James Storm.

The other titles and the buildup for new feuds is also taking TNA to a whole new level and while a PPV from the WWE is the same old stuff in terms of interference and no real resolution, the creative team (a new one at that) has finally figured it all out.

Last week I was told I was crazy for thinking Bully Ray should be the top contender. Maybe I was sipping the Kool-Aid a little too much. But there is some credence to the idea, but it would not happen too soon. Storm will hold the title for a while. He deserves a run.

But there will be consequences.

I have advocated for weeks about Storm and a heel turn. It won't happen from Storm. Bobby Roode will more than likely take the "turn" and the two will battle for months with the title and personal business on the line.

It's brilliant. It's beautiful.

It's Dusty Rhodes and Manny Fernandez. It's Sting and Lex Luger. It's Lex Luger and Barry Windham.

It's that good!

Roode and Storm are the two most popular attractions in TNA besides AJ Styles and Velvet Sky. They aren't going to challenge for tag team supremacy any time soon, so why not pit them against each other? And it promotes ratings, increase in fans in the seats and popularity.

The "Swerve" as I like to call it means a great deal of things in TNA. With the slow demise of Immortal, and the loose affiliation of Fortune, there needs to be an arc of separation between stables and singles competition, much like the WWE has tried to accomplish. But it also has to continue to promote why "Wrestling Matters" and the creative team needs to reinforce this.

While we are tired of seeing Styles and Christopher Daniels beat each other to death, fans won't grow tired of this. They will want to see more. And Roode, because of his status, could handle a heel turn and still remain just as popular. This also could throw other wrestlers into the mix. Jeff Hardy and Ken Anderson are just two of them. Styles, of course and maybe someone like a Crimson, Pope or Matt Morgan.

There are so many possibilities.

So, before we bash the idea of the title change after the PPV, look at the bigger picture. This is all buildup for something bigger. Kurt Angle's injury may have been the best thing to happen to Impact Wrestling right now.

In the long run, it may just save the company. Funny, Angle saves something Jeff Jarrett worked to build.

I love irony, especially in wrestling.
