BCS Rankings 2011: Alabama and LSU Will Make It out of Weekend Unscathed
We wait with bated breath for the game of the season, which is not far off. Lucky for us, the two key players, Alabama and LSU, will come out of the weekend unscathed.
November 5 remains as the title game for most college football fans. Alabama and LSU have been for me the two best teams in the nation.
If the season were to end today, there is no question that I would want to see both of these programs in the title game. Sadly, we are living a life in the BCS. One of them is forced to lose on Nov. 5, and will more than likely be able to play back into the good graces of the BCS.
For another year, we will most likely have one of the best teams in the nation forced from the title game because they have a loss. The justice of that is a small hope that they better team will win on November 5.
I can buy into that, I just need these teams to remain unbeaten in the meantime. That hope will remain after a tough weekend for both programs.
Auburn has certainly been a fantastic story this season, but they on't have an offense that can answer LSU's stifling defense.
The Tigers have enjoyed far more success than we gave them credit for getting a year after their BCS championship. LSU is not about to overlook the potential disaster and will look to bury Auburn early.
Alabama has the same sort of contest facing them. The only way they lose to Tennessee is if they overlook the potential for upset.
Tennessee showed just how capable they were of putting up numbers against a like-minded defense against LSU. Nick Saban will have his players keyed in on making short work of the Volunteers.
With the marquee, contest of the season just a game away. The danger of looking past the present is very real.
I am confident that both programs will deliver knockout punches early, and that is fine by me. I can't wait to see two undefeated behemoths clash on November 5, the faux title game.
