NFL Trade Deadline: Reggie Wayne Among Stars Who Won't Be Moved

Tim KeeneyOct 18, 2011

The NFL trade deadline is quickly approaching (Tuesday, 4 p.m. ET) and lots of big names have been swirling around the rumor mill.

It appears that it could be an exciting few hours leading up to the deadline, but NFL trades are always much more rare than MLB or NBA deals.

It's likely that most of the huge names being thrown around won't actually move at all, and here's a look at three of those.

Reggie Wayne

Wayne's name has been quite possibly the biggest flying around considering how consistently productive he's been with the Colts over his career.

Wayne is set to become a free agent next season and it's highly unlikely the Colts are going to be able to afford him, so with Indy struggling so bad it seemed like a fair enough conclusion that Wayne could leave town.

Still though, Colts owner Jim Isray put a stop to those thoughts when he said he wasn't planning on trading Wayne or Robert Mathis.

It would be very surprising if Wayne got dealt.

Carson Palmer

When the Palmer situation went south this summer it seemed apparent that the Bengals would have to trade away their QB.

Not so fast.

Owner Mike Brown refused to trade or release Palmer, so he was forced to "retire" and has been stuck in Cincy limbo ever since.

With many teams looking for a QB the Palmer rumors started up again.

Still though, Brown is just too stubborn to let a trade go through. Poor Palmer.

Kyle Orton

Ever since he was benched for the savior, Tim Tebow, rumors have been swirling about Orton being traded.

Still though, Orton still has a ton of money (around $5 million) left on his contract and it's unlikely any team will want to take that on, no matter how bad they need a QB.
