BCS Rankings 2011: Kansas State and Teams Who'll Free Fall Down Rankings

Kyle VassaloOct 17, 2011

Some teams need to enjoy their high BCS rankings while they last. In fact, some teams need to enjoy being ranked at all.

There are several teams who have deceived everyone—including the computers—for the time being, but will be exposed in the near future.

Here are three teams who will free fall down the rankings in upcoming weeks.

Kansas State

Kansas State has jumped out to an incredible 6-0 start. They're officially on the map, as they've come out of nowhere to be on the brink of cracking the top 10. Unfortunately for the Wildcats, the worst of their schedule is ahead of them.

They took down overhyped Baylor, but with Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and Texas lying in front of them, it's safe to say that the upstart Wildcats are set for a rocky road ahead and more than a loss or two.

Arkansas

It may not be popular to have Arkansas on this list, but it's fair. They suffered a loss to Alabama, which is completely understandable, but it certainly won't be their last.

With LSU and South Carolina amongst the teams lying ahead, Arkansas' big wins over Auburn and Texas A&M are going to become a distant memory. They're a solid football team, they just aren't good enough to be a one or two loss team in the SEC.

Texas

Texas doesn't belong in the BCS rankings. They are 4-2, haven't beaten anyone worth mentioning and barely escaped BYU. They lost two games to two of the best teams in the country, but they also haven't validated having themselves by any means.

With a few more brutal Big 12 games lying ahead, they have a chance to get a signature win and assert themselves as one of the best 25 teams in the nation, but to that point they certainly haven't done so.
