TNA Bound for Glory 2011: The Top 10 Contenders for Kurt Angle's World Title
Now that he retained his world title and things in Immortal just got a little more uncomfortable, it looks like our Olympic champion, Kurt Angle, will have a new set of contenders chasing him on Impact.
We would hope Bobby Roode gets another crack at Angle's title, which he should, having lost the match on a PPV event, but that remains to be seen.
Will we see creative act in the proper fashion, or will the 13-year veteran get shuffled to the back of the deck?
All this remains to be seen, but these guys deserve a shot at the title.
Yes, I left Sting out of the equation. He will be a contender, but these guys should help the brand move forward.
10. RVD
1 of 10Rob Van Dam already has his hands full with Jerry Lynn, but he is still a main event attraction and could be a contender if the creative team so chooses.
Look for Van Dam to get a shot at the title again, against Angle or another champion.
9. Crimson
2 of 10He was forced out of the BFG Series by Samoa Joe, where it looked like he would run away with the title.
Now, he can amend that by taking on Angle for the title himself.
Remember, Crimson had a great showing against Angle in singles competition before Joe fractured his ankle.
He could get the push he got before the injury all over again and could be a future champion.
8. The Pope
3 of 10Gosh, I hope this one happens.
The Pope is a main event talent and needs a place in this company besides the tag team partner of Devon.
There is so much talent there and whether creative chooses to use it will determine how far he goes in the company.
7. Matt Morgan
4 of 10The Blueprint should have already been a champion.
Maybe it happens now.
Matt Morgan can be the best performer in this organization. He needs a push and a run and solid showing.
This may be the last chance he gets in TNA to be a world title holder.
6. Samoa Joe
5 of 10This really depends if creative will bit heel vs. heel.
Joe is the savage heel everyone hates. That is a good thing in TNA—he can go through opponents better than anyone.
Joe needs a title run, in my estimation.
5. Jeff Hardy
6 of 10This should probably be higher on the list.
Hardy is Hulk Hogan's pick to be the champion. And he should get a big push.
After his appearance at Bound for Glory, you have to figure he will feud with Jeff Jarrett first.
4. AJ Styles
7 of 10Let me tell you something, brother...
OK, forget the funny stuff. Styles said he did not get a title shot because the owners of the company did not want him to have one.
That may change now, since the owner of the company had a change of heart.
3. Gunner
8 of 10This one only works if he turns face, which I do not see happening.
But that said, Gunner deserves title consideration. He is the closest thing to a true enforcer the brand has.
And he is a good in-ring performer.
2. James Storm
9 of 10One half of Beer Money.
We need to see Storm challenge for the title as well as Roode.
He proved over the course of the BFG Series he is certainly worthy and his match with Angle two weeks ago proved he is ready for a shot at singles gold.
1. Bobby Roode
10 of 10If losing the title does not tear him apart and force a heel turn, he should get another shot at the title.
Roode is too good for this company not to be in the title picture.
PERIOD.
