TNA Bound for Glory 2011 Predictions: Hogan/Sting, Angle/Roode and More

Justin WatryOct 15, 2011

TNA's biggest show of the year is finally here! Bound for Glory has become the staple of TNA's year. Why? I don't know. I guess they just decided to make the October event "special" to fans.

The roman numerals go to Slammiversary, and the June show technically is their milestone each year, but what do I care? Just a long list of pointless things in TNA!

As for the card, it looks decent. There are only a few matches worth watching, and a ton of matches that just hold zero interest to me. Biggest show of the year? Not even close. With that being said,  let's make some match picks for TNA...

Pre-Show: Mexican America vs. Ink Inc for the Tag Straps

1 of 9

Honestly, does anybody really care? I mean TNA bumped this to the pre-show, so that tells me even they don't care.

A winner for this match comes down to two things:

1. Chavo is a free agent. If he is joining TNA, Mexican America retains.

2. It is on TNA's Facebook page, before the PPV begins. Will they want a "big moment" to get some quick buys from fans watching online?

Winners: Not the fans watching (Mexican America).

Samoa Joe vs. Matt Morgan vs. Crimson

2 of 9

Remember when Joe was the baddest man alive? Yeah, good times in DixieLand...

This match will be designed to give Crimson another win without doing much work.

Morgan is a great guy, and I would love to see him reach his true potential in this business one day. Sadly, that can't happen in TNA. Samoa Joe is the same deal. If he is motivated and cares to go to work every day, he is a major player.

Crimson does nothing for me. He was Amazing Red's brother and was instantly given some sort of "undefeated streak" that really means nothing to fans.

Winner: Crimson pinning Joe.

AJ Styles vs. Daniels: I Quit Match

3 of 9

In a battle of TNA lifers, I am expecting a pretty good match. These two can go. There is no doubt about that at all. Nobody is ever going to deny their in-ring abilities.

Sadly, out of the ring, they do nothing for me. Adding on an "I Quit" stipulation last minute also does nothing. If anything, it takes away what these two are capable of.

Winner: Styles.

Aries vs. Kendrick: X-Division Title Match

4 of 9

I am not a fan of the X-Divison. It is a glorified cruiserweight division, and it hasn't meant anything to TNA for a few years now.

I am also not a fan of Kendrick. It is pretty clear fans don't care about him, but he is a former WWE star, so he will get pushed every now and then.

I am fan of Aries, though. He is the only saving grace to this division, and he is more than capable of performing outside of the X-Division.

Winner: Aries (I hope).

Anderson vs. Bully Ray: Philly Street Fight

5 of 9

This match is a tale of two stories.

On one hand, you have Anderson slowly going into a hole of obscurity. Wearing a shirt during matches? Come on...still doing your microphone yell? Still trying to mimic Stone Cold in every segment? Give it up. Try something different.

Bully Ray is the other side of the coin. This was how his run on Raw back in 2002 should have been. Not some fun-loving baby face. He was born to play a heel, so let him do his own thing. Sadly, fans are not going to buy into Bully Ray this late in his career.

Winner: Bully Ray (even older, he has more upside than Anderson right now).

RVD vs. Jerry Lynn: Full Metal Mayhem Rules

6 of 9

That may have been the worst debut of all time. Seriously, watch that video from beginning to end. Just a horrible way to enter a company...

Anyways, it looks like we get to see RVD/Lynn Round 456. I haven't cared about either guy for almost a decade, and I am not going to care now.

It is a hardcore match (of course), and it was also a thrown on stipulation last minute. Just like AJ/Dnaiels, one man will always stand tall over the other.

Winner: RVD.

Winter vs. Velvet vs. Madison vs. Mickie: Knockouts Title Bout

7 of 9

This will be a cluster. The days of great women's wrestling on Thursday night is long gone.

That being said, this match is actually interesting. Yes, the title has been passed around a lot lately, but any woman could win here at BFG.

Mickie is always a candidate. Madison could use help from Karen Jarrett. Winter could retain, as she probably is the best one in the division. Then you have Velvet Sky.

It is pretty clear the company loves Velvet Sky. It is also pretty clear that she is not much inside the ring. Alas, being a good worker has never been much of a factor when it comes to pushes in this business.

Winner: Velvet Sky gets her big moment and wins.

Kurt Angle vs. Roode: TNA "World" Title Match

8 of 9

Roode and Storm could be future stars in the business. I have never wavered from that notion. Again, it just can't happen in TNA. They are incapable of creating a legit superstar.

That being said, Roode has shined this past year, and it is time for Beer Money to go their separate ways. The first step happens on Sunday.

Angle will be defending the TNA title against Bobby Roode. Or is it still Robert Roode? I heard both names on TNA this past week, so I guess it doesn't matter.

Roode must win here. CLEAN! Angle and Roode can go for 30 minutes and have as many near falls as they want, but Roode needs to win on his own. No interference. No Storm running out. No Immortal brawling at ringside.

Roode absolutely has to win the title on Sunday. There is no other option here. As much of a cluster as the BFG Series was, their initial winner needs to pay off the story.

Winner: Roode wins; Angle shakes his hand and leaves to train for the 2012 Olympics (any other outcome will be deemed a failure).

Hulk Hogan vs. Sting for the Control of TNA

9 of 9

Make no mistake, this is the main event. It has been treated as such for the past year, and nothing is going to change that. Roode/Angle will and should close the show, but this match is the main event.

I could go on a long rant about these two in 2011, but I don't think it is even needed here. The over/under on back bumps by Hogan has been set at one. ONE!

While most assume this match will be littered with interference, I seem to recall Hogan saying it would be strictly one on one? I am just going to assume that is a load of BS, and that we are going to witness one of the saddest matches of all time.

I love Sting. I love Hogan. However, it is 2011. It is time to move on. If Hogan is on his back once during this match, I will be shocked. Sting can still move a little bit, but it is nowhere near main event level.

That begs the question: What in the world is going to happen here? Well, could we see Jarrett come out? Could we see Jeff Hardy run out? (Hey, who predicted he would be in TNA by October again?)

I'm sorry, but as much sense as it makes for Sting to win and hand the company over to Dixie, I just can't see Hogan being physically able to be on his back. He wouldn't be able to get up! I hope the rowdy Philly fans live up to their reputation Sunday night and speak their minds about this "fight" here...

Winner: Again, not the fans; Hogan wins somehow in an absolute train wreck.
