BCS Rankings 2011: Boise State and Other Teams Sure to Be Overlooked

Patrick ClarkeOct 13, 2011

The BCS standings are to set to be released in the next few weeks and there are sure to be some teams more pleased than others with where they stand.

Teams like LSU, Alabama and Oklahoma will likely hold down the top three spots comfortably, while teams like Wisconsin and Boise State wait for one of them to slip up along the way.

Others, like one-loss Oregon and Arkansas, must hope for lots of mistakes from the nation's top teams in order for a shot at redemption.

Without further ado, here are the teams sure to be overlooked when the first BCS poll is released following Week 8.

Boise State

The Broncos boast a perfect 5-0 record and are just No. 5 in the AP Top 25, but somehow they seem so far out of the national championship picture.

They are led by a Heisman Trophy-candidate in quarterback Kellen Moore, and have an explosive enough offense to play with any team in the country.

Being in the Mountain West certainly hurts Boise State's chances in the polls and that will, like always, be reflected when the first BCS standings are released shortly.

Oklahoma State

The Cowboys have one of the nation's most dynamic pass offenses led by Brandon Weeden and Justin Blackmon.

They very well could go undefeated if they can knock off rival Oklahoma late in the season, but that still might not be enough.

It's possible that Oklahoma State could be left out in favor of an undefeated Wisconsin team, or even a one-loss SEC team depending on the polls.

Houston

The No. 25-ranked Cougars are the proud owners of the country's No. 1 passing attack, led by Case Keenum.

The 6-0 Conference USA squad kicked off the year with a win over UCLA and would provide a difficult matchup for any one of the nation's top teams.

The Cougars could easily finished undefeated this season, but a national championship game seems bleak, and that's a shame.
