BCS Rankings Predictions: Which Teams Will Crack the Top 5?
Every team in college football wants to be in the BCS rankings Top 5, but not every team can handle the pressure and responsibility that comes with it.
The truth of the matter is, any team can be a Top 10 program. Right at this very moment there are teams that are in the Top 10 that don't deserve it, yet they can pass it off on most college football fans.
The thing about the Top 5 is that there is no hiding your weaknesses.
Every week you are in the spotlight and under the microscope.
Winning is not good enough in the Top 5, you have to win and look good doing it.
It's a whole different ball game and only the best survive and come out on top.
It's time to find out which teams really deserve it and which teams are just pretenders.
Here are my predictions for Top 5 once the BCS rankings come out:
5. Wisconsin:
The Badgers seem to be the class of the Big Ten, right now, and they proved it by dismantling a Nebraska team everybody thought would run through the conference in their inaugural year. Truthfully, Wisconsin lucked out when Russell Wilson decided to come play for them, but you can't blame them for taking advantage of a great situation.
4. Stanford:
As long as Andrew Luck is the quarterback for the Stanford Cardinal they will be at Top 5 team, in my opinion. He was the front-runner for the Heisman to start the season, and he's done nothing but prove his case so far. He alone keeps them in the hunt for the BCS title.
3. Oklahoma:
I can't say that Oklahoma is the best team in the nation because they are not. From a schedule standpoint they have had a pretty easy go of things, and don't deserve to be ranked any higher than this. They looked great in the Red River Rivalry and that put them back in the contention, but I need to see more from the Sooners.
2. Alabama:
Alabama's defense makes them the most dangerous team in the nation. They have the ability to shut down any opponent, and we all know the old adage about defense. Offensively they have a Heisman candidate in running back Trent Richardson. They'd be ranked No. 1, but the only catch is the No. 1 team just happens to be better.
1. LSU
LSU has set themselves up to be the undisputed No. 1 this season. They started the year with a huge test against Oregon and passed it. They've played the toughest schedule out of any of these teams, and yet somehow they seem to dominate as if they're playing cupcakes. They have a paralyzing defense and have really grown into their offensive skill-sets. The Tigers are the hands-down best team in the country.
