BCS Rankings 2011: Why LSU Should Be Above Sooners
The Sooners continue to win the "big" games that are on their schedule. Most recently they beat the beef out of the No. 11 Texas Longhorns in what should've been called the Red River Shooting. Shootout would imply that both parties were armed. Even after the 55-17 pasting, the No.3 Sooners don't deserve to be ahead of the No. 1 LSU Tigers.
It is clear, the Sooners will not be challenged again until the last game of the season against the No. 6 Oklahoma St. Cowboys.
Even then, the Cowboys defense figures to be overwhelmed by the Sooners attack. Their only chance is a slim one, but it would have to be in a shootout.
The Sooners have an excellent chance to run the table. Even if LSU drops a game, I'm still not convinced that they aren't a better team. Take a look at the schedules.
It is true, the Sooners have six ranked teams on their schedule. LSU has seven and the average rank of their ranked opponents 13 while Oklahoma's is 16.
This says LSU is playing better teams more frequently than Oklahoma. If LSU is able to run the table it will require knocking No. 15 Auburn and No. 2 Alabama, in Tuscaloosa.
If they lose that game and no other on their schedule, unless they are blown out, I still have them ahead of Oklahoma.
The schedule difference is too much to ignore. Nothing that a nice little playoff system wouldn't resolve, but that is another article all together.
