College Football Rankings 2011: 3 Teams with No Business Being in the Polls
The college football rankings usually have a flaw to some degree in them, and this week is no different.
Here are three teams that should not be included in the Top 25 and have mistakenly been included by clueless voters.
No. 25 Baylor
Baylor was the Cinderella team of 2011 that started off hot, but has since cooled down and lost its first game of the season this past Saturday.
The Bears' big win of the year was against then-No. 14 TCU, which turned out to be a fluke, and they don't have a win over a quality opponent this season.
They have a great quarterback in Robert Griffin III, and all the Heisman surrounding him seems to keep Baylor relevant to the voters.
No. 24 Texas A&M
After jumping out to a 2-0 record after beating a decent SMU team and a terrible Idaho team, the Texas A&M Aggies lost their next two games against quality opponents in Oklahoma State and Arkansas, proving that being included with the Top 25 is a sham.
Their fate to be out of the Top 25 should be answered next week when they face the 4-0 Texas Tech Raiders, who will hand the Aggies their third loss in a row.
No. 23 Florida State
The Florida State Seminoles started off way over-ranked at No. 5. They have shown their true colors, losing their last two games to No.1 Oklahoma and No. 21 Clemson, the first formidable foes they have faced all season.
Florida State will ultimately be knocked out of the rankings when it faces a hot Wake Forest team next week, showing it was the biggest fluke of the preseason polls all along.
