NFL Week 13 Recaps: TDs Four at a Time!

Football ManiaxsNov 30, 2008

Carolina 35—Green Bay 31

The Packers might have played themselves out of a playoff spot.  DeAngelo Williams scored an astonishing four touchdowns on only 74 yards, joining Donovan McNabb and Brian Westbrook from the Eagles who accomplished the feat on Thursday.

Jake Delhomme had a decent day passing for 177 yards, but didn't have a touchdown or an interception.

Williams did all the work for the Panthers. Jon Beason ran over the field with 11 tackles and an interception.  Beason, a former first round pick, has meshed well in the Panthers' defensive mix.

Carolina continues their miraculous run and go to 9-3 on the season, but will face Tampa Bay next week for a battle for the NFC South lead.

Green Bay had more yards than Carolina, but they didn't have a single player score four touchdowns.  Aaron Rodgers had three touchdown passes and 298 yards, but the comeback fell just short.

The running game didn't do that badly either, running for 145 yards, but none of the RB's could find the end zone.

The game was tied going into the fourth quarter, but Mason Crosby had a field goal to go ahead, but the Panthers scored a touchdown with 1:30 remaining.  The Packers now fall to 5-7.

San Francisco 10—Buffalo 3

The 49ers came back from a thumping from Dallas to eke out a win against the struggling Buffalo Bills.  Despite being outgained in yards, the 49ers scored the lone deciding touchdown on a touchdown pass to Isaac Bruce.  Shaun Hill had 161 yards passing and a touchdown.

Though this victory does nothing for the 49ers this season, it will have an effect on who plays next season.  A rebuilding project is taking place in San Francisco.

They had 62 yards total rushing on the day, but the defense caught enough breaks to slow down the Bills. With their win, the 49ers postponed Arizona's clinching of the division at least another week.

Marshawn Lynch had 134 yards rushing, but no touchdown.  Trent Edwards was replaced by JP Losman, who was also inadequate.  Lee Evans had 80 yards receiving, leading all wide receivers on the day.

The Bills were in the red zone twice on the day and seemed deflated from the beginning.  Both defenses played very well, but it was San Francisco's that would prove better on this day.

Baltimore 34—Cincinnati 3

The offensive woes continue for the Bengals.  Ryan Fitzpatrick struggled after having two straight games of 200+ yards passing.  He was shut down by a smothering Ravens defense. Mark Clayton finally lived up to his first-round pick with a 70-yard touchdown catch.

He also had a 32-yard touchdown pass and caught five passes for 164 yards.  Derek Mason had another touchdown on 94 yards. Joe Flacco threw his fourth 200+ yard game on the season.  The Ravens were dominant in all aspects of the game, outgaining the Bengals in yards, sacks, and turnovers.

The Bengals went to Carson's younger brother, Jesse, to start something, but he couldn't.  TJ Houshmandzadeh had 64 yards and Chad Ocho Cinco had 45.  Cincinnati had 155 total yards on the day.

Shayne Graham was the only bright spot for the Bengals, nailing a field goal in the second quarter. The Bengals were 2-for-15 on third-down conversions.  That won't win you much.  That's why the Bengals are 1-10-1.

Indianapolis 10—Cleveland 6

Romeo Crennel's job is on the line, but the Colts most likely put a nail in that coffin.  Though the Colts had trouble moving the ball for the second straight game, they did enough to win.

The Colts had a touchdown in the fourth quarter off a Derek Anderson fumble.

That was the game winner, and thus came the benching of Derek Anderson for Ken Dorsey. The former Miami standout went 0-for-3 with an interception.

Peyton Manning had 125 yards and two interceptions.  Reggie Wayne has been cooled down the last two weeks, and this week he only had 46 yards with no touchdowns.

The Browns have played themselves into a rebuilding project no matter who takes over the starting quarterback job.  They lost the game in the fourth quarter with Robert Mathis' touchdown off a fumble and that has spelled the season for the Browns.

Their defense couldn't muster much either, not getting a sack, the third time that's happened this season.

Derek Anderson passed for 110 yards and had a crucial fumble. The Colts and Browns combined for only 408 yards.  Not the best effort by both teams.

With the win, the Colts extend the Titans' wait for the division crown yet another week.

Miami 16—St. Louis 12

Miami doesn't find many ways to win impressively, but a win is a win.  Dan Carpenter had three field goals, and Ronnie Brown again bailed them out.

Brown passed for 12 yards to keep a drive going, and he also had a three-yard touchdown run.  Pennington was average passing for 166 yards, but the story of the day was Miami intercepting Marc Bulger three times.

The Rams saw the return of Stephen Jackson, but he wasn't able to find the end zone.  He did, however, have 94 yards rushing and 16 yards receiving.

The Rams converted on 50 percent of third downs as opposed to a 30-percent mark by the Dolphins, but Brown's touchdown decided the game.

Neither team had a sack, but Miami won the turnover battle. The Rams are 2-10, while the Dolphins go to 7-5 and in the thick of it for a playoff spot.

New Orleans 20—Tampa Bay 23

New Orleans again had a lot of yards, 332 to be exact, but 296 of those were from passing the ball.  Marques Colston had his first 100-yard game since coming off a pinky injury, but he couldn't find the end zone.

The ultimate doom was Brees' three interceptions.  The Saints moved the ball well and converted on 38 percent of third downs, but one too many interceptions helped the Bucs win despite their mediocre passing game.

Lance Moore scored another touchdown and had 15 yards.

The Bucs had...
