Week 4 Fantasy Football Projections: Predicting the Top 3 RBs This Weekend

Michael MillOct 2, 2011

The running back position may not be as important as you used to be for teams across the NFL, but it's still the most important position on your fantasy football team.

Typically the same players are towards the top of the list week in and week out. Occasionally, someone breaks through with an unexpected big game.

The key to fantasy football is knowing when that big game is coming.

Here are predictions for the top three running backs this weekend.

3. Chris Johnson (Tennessee)

Here is your surprise of the week.

We are now in week four of the season. Johnson has had the equivalent of his preseason games in the first three weeks to shake the rust off.

This is a game where he should step in and put up the yards everyone expects from him.

The Browns aren't really known for being a top defense in the league.

Prediction: 110 yards, one touchdown.

2. Darren McFadden (Oakland)

Darren McFadden is currently leading the NFL in rushing yards.

He has stepped up this season and is showing signs of becoming the running back everybody thought he would be went he entered the league a few years ago.

This weekend the Raiders take on the Patriots.

If there has been any weakness in New England this year it's been their passing defense. However, their run defense hasn't been fantastic either.

McFadden will likely run early and often, but he may be limited if Oakland gets in too big of a hole.

Prediction: 125 yards, one touchdown.

1. Adrian Peterson (Minnesota)

Minnesota has blown three games this season that they have led at halftime.

This is hard to believe considering the fact that Minnesota has one of the best closers in the game with Adrian Peterson.

The reason, is because Peterson hasn't been handed the ball enough in the second half.

Coaches have made it clear that won't be the case this week. Perfect timing, since the Vikings should have an easy game against the Chiefs.

Prediction: 145 yards, two touchdowns.
