Liverpool FC: Andy Carroll's Improvement Will Take Reds to Next Level
Liverpool has seemingly righted the ship with wins over Brighton and Wolverhampton after a couple of disappointing results. However, for the Reds to take their play to the next level, they'll need more production from striker Andy Carroll.
The 22-year-old English national team member scored a goal against Exeter City in the Carling Cup last month, but hasn't been able to find the back of the net in league play. Defender Jose Enrique told the team website that it's just a matter of time before the Gateshead native has a breakout performance.
"Enrique predicts his former Newcastle teammate will soon start finding the net on a regular basis in the league following his Carling Cup cracker against Exeter. And he is hopeful Everton will be the first victims next weekend.
'Andy was unlucky not to score,' said Enrique. 'Maybe he tried too many tricks with the chance at the end but I think next time he will score.
'Against Everton would be the perfect game for him to score. I think he and Luis Suarez complement each other well.'

The Reds have only scored more than two goals on one occasion in six league games so far. They will need more offensive outbursts if they plan on remaining in the running for a spot in Europe next season, and Carroll is the key to increased offensive production.
It's not like Liverpool is expecting something that Carroll hasn't accomplished in the past. He scored 11 goals in 19 appearances with Newcastle United last season. It's just a matter of getting that first one and he'll likely go on a roll.
Both manager Kenny Dalglish and Carroll's teammates have a lot of confidence in him, so he'll continue to receive playing time until he figures it out. There's just too much talent for him to do anything but to be on the pitch.
Like Enrique suggested, a goal in the latest edition of the Merseyside derby on Saturday would be a great start. Liverpool needs to secure all three points against their crosstown rivals to ensure Everton doesn't gain any confidence moving forward.
Tim Howard has been solid as usual between the pipes for the Toffees, but they are lacking talent up front due to a lack of funds to acquire strikers. If Liverpool can maintain the form from the last two games, they should find a way to pick up a road win.
And if Carroll scores a goal in the process, all the better for the Reds.
