Czech Republic vs. Spain: Complete Preview, Start Time and Schedule

Richard LangfordSep 27, 2011

Spain and the Czech Republic sit in first and second place in Group I of the European Cup Qualifier. They will take to the pitch against each other this October 7th.

These two last met on March 25th of this year and Spain pulled out a narrow 2-1 victory. Czech has since had mixed results. They are 2-1-2 since that match—a stretch that includes a 1-1-0 record in the ECQ.

Spain has been their usual dominant selves since then. They are 4-1-0 in their last five matches. Their last time on the pitch was a 6-0 triumph over Liechenstein.

Player to Watch for Czech Republic: Michal Kadlec

Kadlec is a talented left-back defender that has the ability to score. In fact, in his team's three Euro 2012 qualifying games, he has two goals and is the leading scorer.

Player to Watch for Spain: David Villa

Villa is typically at the center of Spain's imposing attack. He can get a shot off from anywhere and at anytime. He is also capable of delivering pin-point passes.

Keep your eyes fixed on Villa; chances are you will catch the crux of the action.

Key Matchup: Spain vs. Themselves

Spain has a commanding Group I lead and a place in the 2012 Euro Finals locked up (see below). The question is how hard—and who—will they play in this match?

They may use this game as an opportunity to blood some youngsters.

If they don't, and they choose to go with their "A" lineup, this match is not likely to be close.

What They're Saying

Spain already has Group I well in hand and a place at next year's European championship finals. ESPN runs down the Group I standings:

"

The victory leaves Spain with a 100% record after six successive wins in Group I and they boast an unassailable eight-point lead over nearest challengers Czech Republic as Vicente del Bosque's men assured themselves a place in Ukraine and Poland.

Liechtenstein, meanwhile, remain bottom of the group with four points from their seven games.

"

Score Prediction:

Spain, 2

Czech Republic, 2
