NFL Power Rankings: Which Teams Will Get Better As Season Continues?

John RozumJun 7, 2018

At the beginning of the season it can be very frustrating when your team is underachieving.

However, there are also those teams that gradually get better along the way, mainly because they find their confidence and begin to execute.

Altogether, that then becomes a fusion of synergy which can lead to being a solid contender in the playoff race.

Each of the following three teams will do so this season, but it'll be interesting to see who steps it up more as they are all in the NFC.

Dallas Cowboys

We saw it happen last night right before our very eyes.

For as many mistakes and the couple of bad calls that happened to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night, they proved to be a team that can overcome quite a bit.

Two turnovers, four botched snaps and one almost lost fumble, but the Cowboys did Tom Landry proud and defeated NFC East rival Washington amidst multiple injuries and miscues.

The win propels Dallas to 2-1 and give them some much-needed confidence as the year continues.

The defense was impenetrable as the offense couldn't find the end zone, but they kept forcing the Redskins to kick field goals and it ultimately paid off.

Big D is back in business and the win last night, for as bad as they played, proves how good of a team they really are, and how much better they will get.

Atlanta Falcons

The biggest issue with the Falcons is they don't know how to play very well on the road.

Sure they went 6-2 outside the Georgia Dome in 2010, but five of those wins came against teams who had a combined record of 31-49 (four of whom missed the postseason).

And as by this year's evidence, Atlanta has to relearn winning on the road because not only are both their losses from away games, but they've only averaged 12.5 points when having to travel.

However, the Falcons simply have too much talent not to improve in road games, and in addition, they did play much better in Tampa than they did Chicago.

So although they lost, at least it wasn't as bad or worse in Week 3 than Week 1.

This week they go on the road once again, but are now preparing for Seattle.

It's definitely a winnable game, but it's certainly not going to be as easy as most Seahawks skeptics think.

Chicago Bears

For as bad as QB Jay Cutler has played the past two games, we have to remember that Mike Martz is his offensive coordinator, and this is a guy who made Kurt Warner into a potential Hall of Famer.

At the time in which Martz began to work with Cutler (2010), he was ahead of where Kurt Warner was in the 1999 preseason.

That being said, it's obvious that Warner learned quicker. However, that doesn't mean Cutler still can't improve.

Also, even though the defense hasn't been up to par, they will get better because they simply have too much talent.

With studs like Brian Urlacher, Julius Peppers and Charles Tillman, there's no reason why "The Monster of the Midway" can't get back into the NFC mix.
