Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather: 4 Reasons Pretty Boy Would Knock Him out

Mick AkersSep 27, 2011

Now that Floyd Mayweather has taken care of Victor Ortiz by way of a knockout victory, the Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao fight speculation can continue.

If the mega fight ever does get signed, the real talk of who would win the fight could really get started, and I feel there is one way the fight will end: a knockout victory for Money May.

Here are the four reasons that Mayweather would knockout Pacquiao if they ever do meet in boxing fans' dream fight.

Money May Still Has KO Power

1 of 4

As Floyd Mayweather displayed against Victor Ortiz, he still has KO power and should have plenty of frustration built up to unleash on Manny Pacquiao.

All Money May needs is an opportunity to land a ferocious combo, and Pacquiao won't stand a chance to go the distance with Mayweather, as Pacquiao has shown he is susceptible to a big shot over the years.

With boxing experts saying Mayweather's knockout ability was in the past, Mayweather gave all his doubters a rude awakening with his shocking KO of Ortiz.

Pacquiao Does Take Big Shots

2 of 4

Unlike Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao typically takes a few big shots in fights. Allowing Mayweather to land his power shots would be a different story than "Pacman" is used to, as he has never faced a fighter that has the speed and the accuracy of Mayweather with legit knockout power.

Pacquiao isn't afraid to take a punch to give a punch, but with Mayweather, Pacqiuao would not just take one to give one, he would take at least two shots from the speedy Mayweather, which would open up Pacquiao more, eventually providing the perfect chance for Mayweather to get the KO.

Pacquiao's Chin Has Been Tested Before

3 of 4

Manny Pacquiao has been knocked down multiple times in his career and has lost two fights by being knocked out. The odds are when he steps in the ring with the best fighter he has seen in his long, legendary career, there is always the chance that a knockout win for Mayweather will occur.

Pacquiao would make a huge mistake if he allowed Mayweather to land any kind of power shot in order to try to land one of his own, as Mayweather's pin-point accuracy will land Pacquiao in a world of trouble with his susceptible chin.

It would just be a matter of time in the fight until Mayweather tests Pacquiao's chin, and once Money May figures out he can hurt Pacquiao, it would only be a matter of time before Mayweather ends the fight early with a KO victory.

Mayweather Has the Fight Day Weight Advantage

4 of 4

One physical advantage that Floyd Mayweather will have is the fight-day weight advantage.

Mayweather usually weighs around 153 pounds on fight day—up from his weigh-in weight of 147—and Pacquiao usually comes into a fight around 145 pounds, giving Mayweather a noticeable weight advantage on fight day.

The more a fighter weighs, the bigger his punching power will be, especially against a fighter that weighs less.

This fact could prove to be the biggest factor in Mayweather's knockout bid, as everything listed before added in with a size advantage won't bode well for Pacquiao's fate in the ring with Money May.
