Week 4 Start Em Sit Em: Rams' Sam Bradford Will Continue Slide

Ryan RudnanskySep 27, 2011

St. Louis Rams second-year quarterback Sam Bradford came into this season after an impressive rookie campaign that saw him complete 60 percent of his passes for over 3,500 yards and 18 touchdowns.

What made Bradford's rookie season so special was that he was able to succeed to an extent with little talent surrounding him, particularly in the receiving corps.

This season, however, it's not just his receivers that are letting him down.

Here is your Start 'Em, Sit 'Em for Week 4.

Start 'Em: Jason Campbell, QB, Oakland Raiders

This may be the only time all season I suggest starting Jason Campbell, so heed my wise words while they last.

Campbell is situated in a run-heavy offense led by Darren McFadden and has never proven to be an above-average fantasy quarterback. But he's also facing the New England Patriots, who have given up a league-worst 377 passing yards per game. On top of that, their pass rush hasn't looked much better than last season, with only six sacks through three games.

Campbell threw for only 156 yards and no touchdowns against the New York Jets, but the Jets are also a very good pass defense. Against the Buffalo Bills in Week 2, Campbell threw for 323 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

Campbell isn't going to light the world on fire very often, but he has his moments. Against a Patriots team trying to contain McFadden, in Oakland, I expect Campbell to have some big opportunities throughout the game.

Sit 'Em: Sam Bradford, QB, St. Louis Rams

Even with the addition of former Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Mike Sims-Walker in the offseason, the Rams still looked skimpy in the receiving department. You add in the fact that the offensive line has allowed 12 sacks through three games (third-most in the league), you have a serious problem on your hands.

Did I mention star running back Steven Jackson is hobbled with a quad injury and Bradford is facing a revamped Redskins defense in Week 4?

Sam Bradford thought he had it bad before.

This could be a season-long thing for Bradford, folks. It's too bad, too, because with some help surrounding him he could have put up some big fantasy numbers.
