Redskins vs. Cowboys: NFC East Showdown Will Expose Redskins as Frauds

Wes ODonnellSep 26, 2011

It is only one game, but the time has come for us to find out exactly what the Washington Redskins are all about.

They beat up a damaged New York Giants team missing their emotional leader in Week 1, and they barely escaped with a win against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2.

Both games were at home and their 2-0 start may be the biggest joke through the first few weeks of the season.

Now they finally take to the road and will be tested by a fierce division rival looking to make a mark in their home debut.

Things aren't too great in Dallas, though.

The Cowboys will be without their top wide receiver, Miles Austin, and they also have a number of injuries across the board.

Quarterback Tony Romo is experimenting with Kevlar in his flak jacket to help protect his cracked rib and punctured lung.

Running back Felix Jones was dealt with a shoulder injury last week, but did return to finish the game.

And wide receiver Dez Bryant, who missed last week's win over the San Francisco 49ers with a bum hamstring, is expected to be on the field, tonight, as well.

All in all, the Cowboys have a ton of talent, but a rash of nagging injuries.

The Redskins also see one of their own return this week as well. Safety LaRon Landry, one of their best defensive players, is expected to make his season debut in Big D. His presence has been sorely missed.

We can expect an ugly game between two teams that really, really don't like each other at all.

Washington has only given up five sacks during their first two games and the Cowboys are currently third in the league—through only two games mind you—with 10 overall.

This is where everything changes. When Washington played the Giants, Big Blue was missing Justin Tuck. Everything was out of sync.

With Dallas, a questionable Redskins line will have to deal with DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer on every play.

The Cowboys have the league's second leading rush defense through two games and their overall defensive talent—despite the injuries—will be too overwhelming for the Redskins.

Washington's defense should make a few plays here and there as well against Dallas' offensive line, but Romo and the Cowboys are better suited to handle it on the outside.

There is nothing like a divisional matchup to find out where a football team really stands. Tonight's game will expose the Redskins for who they really are.
