League Cup: Last 16 Draw
After the League Cup games this week, the draw for the last 16 round was held today.
There were wins for Manchester United and Wolverhampton. Stoke, Cardiff, and Chelsea needed penalties to win their ties. Everton and Newcastle needed extra time to resolve their matches.
League Two side Aldershot Town will be looking for a glamor tie against one of the big Premier League teams.
Here is the full next round draw. Ties to be played the week commencing 24th October.
Wolverhampton V. Manchester City
1 of 8Big-spending Manchester City will travel to Molineux to face Wolverhampton in this all-Premier League tie.
Will Roberto Mancini play the first team or can his reserve players overcome an inspired Wolves side?
Cardiff V. Burnley
2 of 8This all-Championship tie will see Cardiff play struggling Burnley.
Burnley beat MK Dons in the previous round, but can they up their game to beat their Welsh rivals?
Blackburn V. Newcastle
3 of 8A reverse of today's Premier League game will see the Toon travel to Ewood Park to face Blackburn.
Will Alan Pardew play with reserve players again, or will he send out the more experienced side to face the topsy-turvy Blackburn side?
Arsenal V. Bolton
4 of 8Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has often been tormented by Bolton before, but he will feel he has the advantage being played at home.
Bolton have had an indifferent season so far, but they do travel well.
Stoke V. Liverpool
5 of 8Two weeks ago, Stoke beat Liverpool 1-0 in the Premier League side between these two sides.
Stoke are a force to be reckoned with at home, but Liverpool will feel they have a decent chance to avenge their defeat.
Aldershot V. Manchester United
6 of 8They may have preferred a trip to Old Trafford, but Aldershot will still be pleased with this draw.
Manchester United may feel out of place at the Recreation Ground, but will probably come away as winners, even if Aldershot play their best performance of the season.
Crystal Palace V. Southampton
7 of 8The south coast side will visit Selhurst Park in this all-Championship tie.
Southampton are one of the form teams in the Championship, but these ties do often throw up an upset.
Everton V. Chelsea
8 of 8In last season's FA Cup, Everton knocked out Chelsea, and they will fancy their chances with this fixture.
Chelsea will be expected to win, but this tie could be very close, as Everton needed extra time to beat West Brom and Chelsea needed penalties to beat Fulham in the previous round.
