EPL: The Best Players on Twitter from Every Team

Ryan DayJun 7, 2018

In between two-a-day training sessions, international traveling and hours with the media, English Premier League players still have time to dive into the world of social networking, namely Twitter.

Recently, Twitter use has come under fire from several Premiership clubs. Tottenham monitors their players very closely since the Darren Bent incident. Manchester United has come under scrutiny after fans harassed Darron Gibson into leaving the Twittersphere just two hours after joining it.

But for the most part, Twitter provides an entertaining platform for Premiership players to express themselves and interact with fans. And some of them do it much better than others.

Without further ado, I give you the best Twitter account to follow for each club in the EPL.

Arsenal: Emmanuel Frimpong

1 of 20

Emmanuel Frimpong may be young, but the Gunners midfielder tweets like a pro.

The 19-year-old Ghanaian has sent out over 4,600 tweets to the 161,000 followers he has garnered in his short career on the English U-16 and U-17 teams.

You won't find much game analysis here, but you will find Frimpong asking for followers to vote in West African beauty contests, using his own last name as a verb and capitalizing every single word in sentences.

So if you're ready to join DEEEEENCH NATION make sure to send a request to follow Frimpong.

Aston Villa: Brad Guzan

2 of 20

Aston Villa is lacking in more than just quality of play this year. The team has only a handful of players on Twitter and some of them haven't updated in months.

The only one worth following is goalkeeper Brad Guzan, who also plays for the U.S. national team. His tweets are less entertaining than most other players in the Premiership, but he's always willing to throw an RT to fans of Aston Villa or Hull City (where Guzan went on loan last season).

Blackburn Rovers: Jason Roberts

3 of 20

There's actually about a half-dozen players on Twitter from Blackburn Rovers, but none take more advantage of the social networking tool.

Bolton Wanderers: Stuart Holden

4 of 20

Bolton's top player in the Twittersphere use to be Kevin Davies, but since he resigned from Twitter months ago because of what he described as "abuse nobody needs really," that distinction is handed down to Stuart Holden.

Holden, who does work as a commentator on FOX Soccer, talks about more than just soccer. Apparently, his fantasy football team is doing well, he's regularly taking part in yoga and his brother is doing well in the fifth-tier of English football.

Chelsea: Florent Malouda

5 of 20

You would hope a team as prolific as Chelsea would have many of its players on Twitter, especially considering how many run-ins Blues players have with the law, but sadly there's only a few to choose from.

Florent Malouda, the French national team player, has some of the more interesting tweets. He talks a little about what his foundation is doing in his hometown of Cayenne, French Guyana, but if you don't want your feed clogged up by news about reggae from around the world, you're better off just reading about the team from SkySports.

Everton: Louis Saha

6 of 20

If only Victor Anichebe had a Twitter account. I'd love to see what the guy who police mistook to be a jewelry thief is up to these days.

But because we're not so lucky, forward Louis Saha will have to do. Aside from starting arguments about gingers, Saha used his Twitter as a confessional after he got relegated to Everton's reserves and then used it minutes later to encourage...himself?

Fulham: Aaron Hughes

7 of 20

Wouldn't we all just love if defender Philippe Senderos was on Twitter?

Well, he's not, and that's probably good for Fulham fans who don't want to see one of their best defenders fined or suspended for what he'd say.

If fans want a genuine player to follow, make sure it's Aaron Hughes. The guy uses Twitter to announce he's quitting international play to focus on his career at Fulham and describe what may or may not be illegal activities.

Honorable mention goes to goalkeeper Neil Etheridge who used Twitter as a confessional when he watched Bridesmaids.

Liverpool: Nathan Eccleston

8 of 20

You could follow Glen Johnson if you'd like your feed clogged by tweets that have way too many exclamation marks.

Or you can follow Nathan Eccleston and get some of the more controversial tweets coming out of the Premiership.

Eccleston opined on his Twitter account that the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center were an "accident" and encouraged followers with this bit of advice: "...don't let the media make u believe that was terrorist that did it..."

Manchester City: Vladimir Weiss

9 of 20

While there's quite a few players for Manchester City on Twitter, none is better than Vladimir Weiss.

Here you'll find Weiss ranking the physical appearance of fellow Blues players, blaming luck rather than quality of play in losses and introducing us to beautiful women we may not have had the chance to find otherwise.

Thank you, Mr. Weiss.

Manchester United: Wayne Rooney

10 of 20

Was there any doubt that the best Manchester United player on Twitter was going to be Wayne Rooney?

What a Renaissance man.

Norwich City: James Vaughan

11 of 20

There's only two options if you're a Canaries supporter and want to follow a player: Anthony Pilkington and James Vaughan.

Pilkington is a family man, tweeting about time with his kids and long rides back home to Scotland. Vaughan is single and uses Twitter as a platform to talk about hot women on television, defend his skills at Call Of Duty and make fun of reality show contestants.

You decide which one you'll follow.

Newcastle United: Nile Ranger

12 of 20

The surprise team in the Premiership this season is Newcastle United. As one of the only few undefeated teams in the league, the club's most popular Twitter user, Nile Ranger, has a lot to tweet about.

Queens Park Rangers: Shaun Wright-Phillips

13 of 20

If you follow one member of the Queens Park Rangers, you're pretty much going to hear about all of them. The team has nine players on Twitter and they all use the site to talk about, make fun of and congratulate one another.

Shaun Wright-Phillips goes the extra mile and includes pictures as a part of his jokes, so he edges out the rest of the Super Hoops.

Now if only he can be as good at scoring goals as he is at making fun of teammates.

Stoke City: Asmir Begovic

14 of 20

You wouldn't think that someone who grew up in Bosnia and plays soccer in England would know much about American football.

With Stoke City's Asmir Begovic, you'd be wrong.

The guy claims the New England Patriots as his own team and even knows that the Detroit Lions being 3-0 is like...well...Stoke City being 3-0.

Sunderland: Trevor Carson

15 of 20

Trevor Carson may not be well known outside of Sunderland (Getty Images currently does not have a picture of the goalkeeper in their database) but he handles Twitter like a pro, giving social commentary on the current state of affairs, poking fun at media pundit Piers Morgan and keeping the public informed of how Northern Ireland's national soccer team is doing.

If only Carson's ability in front of the net was as prolific as his ability in front of his Blackberry.

Swansea City: Ashley Richards

16 of 20

If for nothing else, Ashley Richards needs your follow because of this gem off his Twitter feed: "-Dude she has a boyfriend? -Yeah so? Soccer has a goalie doesn't mean you can't score."

Tottenham Hotspur: Jermaine Jenas

17 of 20

He's on loan to Aston Villa, but fans know Jermaine Jenas as a longtime fixture around White Hart Lane.

Jenas doesn't tweet often, but when he does look out for some tweets making fun of ex-Tottenham player Darren Bent, regular responses to questions from fans and requests to be re-tweeted.

West Bromwich Albion: Peter Odemwingie

18 of 20

West Bromwich Albion is currently second-to-last in the English Premier League, and several players have cancelled their Twitter accounts or just stopped signing in.

But Peter Odemwingie is not one of them.

Odemwingie responded to fans who were upset at the striker for having a desire to move to a better team and even offers commentary on rival teams in the Premiership.

Wigan Athletic: Ali Al-Habsi

19 of 20

If you're a Wigan Athletic supporter (and why wouldn't you be?!) you've only got three choices to follow players. Two play mostly reserve roles, so the only one worth your timeline would be goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi.

Not that it's a bad choice. Al-Habsi, who tweets in both English and Arabic, offers encouraging words before every match and responds to a lot of Wigan supporters during the course of the season.

Wolverhampton: Dave Edwards

20 of 20

This Welsh international and Wolves midfielder may not have ever played in the States, but he sure tweets like he has.

Edwards comments on everything from boxing to documentaries about the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center to American football.

Now if only he wasn't a family man and could be doing some tweeting from the pub, we might have one of the more interesting Twitter accounts in the Premiership.
