Is Matt Cassel the Next Tom Brady?
So a question has come back asking whether Tom Brady will continue to be the Patriots' starting quarterback and the face of the franchise.
The answer is "yes," of course!
Tom Brady is a superstar Hall of Fame QB that threw 50 touchdowns less than one year ago. This guy has unreal accuracy and can create a game-winning drive at the drop of a dime; he can do it all. I mean, the guy is compared to NFL QB greats like Joe Montana for a reason.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Okay, Matt Cassel has gotten better and better as the season has gone on, and the Pats are having a pretty good season, and the guy did throw for over 400 yards in consecutive games while throwing six touchdowns, but that doesn't matter.
I was reading an article on ESPN.com which named some of the other guys in the NFL that threw for 400 yards consecutively. These included Phil Simms and Dan Marino, but also Billy Volek. So throwing consecutive 400-yard games isn't really an indicator of anything.
I talked to one of my friends about Matt Cassel's explosive offensive outbursts these past few weeks and he told me it was obvious.
Matt Cassel has a phenomenal receiving core in Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Jabar Gafney, and Ben Watson. He finally learned to utilize Randy a bit, but it's the receivers that are making the plays and getting the yardage, because Matt mainly throws cross routes and screen passes—just the easy little plays that end up being huge.
I haven't seen Matt Cassel complete a 40+ yard pass through the air with amazing accuracy yet this season.
When Bledsoe got injured, he was struggling. Then Tom came in and performed excellently, so he became our new QB. Tom has been doing wonderfully ever since he took over. He hasn't been struggling; he simply got hurt...badly.
In the end, there's no question that Tom Brady is going to come back as Tom Brady next year and continue to dominate opposing defenses.
No offense to Matt Cassel. He's been stepping it up big time, and showing that he deserves to be an NFL player; I really felt that when I saw the TD drive against the Jets to send the game to OT. Still, he's not ready to take the reins of a team that has won three Super Bowls in this decade.
Until Tom Brady retires, or (hopefully this never happens) leaves the Pats, he's going to be our boy.
