Week 3 Fantasy Football Projections: 3 Rising Receivers Worth a Flex Spot

Eric BallSep 22, 2011

Fringe starters at receiver are beginning to separate themselves from the competition and failing to realize this will leave you with a bench that outscores your starters…by far the worst possible feeling in the fantasy world.

Here are three young receivers that are putting up solid numbers so far, and will only get stronger as the season progresses:

1. Percy Harvin - Minnesota Vikings

Harvin is not feeling the love in head coach Leslie Frazier’s new system. He was only on the field for 30 of a possible 65 snaps last week.

It’s absurd considering the next best receiving threat is a banged up Michael Jenkins that may not even play this week.

Frazier has taken some serious heat for it and expect things to change this week against a Lions team that doesn’t have the team speed to keep up with the fleet Harvin.

2. A.J Green - Cincinnati Bengals

Green has a game winning TD catch one game and 120 yards with another TD the next week.

You could say this is a decent way to start your NFL career.

QB Andy Dalton has already proved that Green is going to be his top target this season and will be throwing the ball in his direction at least 10 times a game. Considering the “red rifle” looks a lot better than what most experts predicted, Green will only get stronger as the season progresses.

3. Mike Williams - Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Don’t give up on the Bucs' tall target just yet.

He put up a goose egg in Week 2. Expect QB Josh Freeman to make up for it this week against the Falcons.

Atlanta’s secondary has gotten shredded this season, and you can bet on Williams sneaking past a defender for a long bomb that nets him huge fantasy points.

The worst week of Williams’ season is already behind him.
