Oklahoma State vs. Texas A&M: TV Schedule, Live Streaming, Radio and More
This is a game of epic proportions between the Texas A&M Aggies and the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Two top 10 teams take to the field in College Station in a game that will prove which team is a serious threat to advance to the BCS Championship game.
This is a make or break game for both sides, there is no question about that.
A loss all but eliminates you from a chance at the BCS Championship game, while a win puts you a victory over Oklahoma away from a shot at a National Championship.
Where: Kyle Field (College Station, Texas)
When: Saturday, September 24th at 3:30 p.m. EST
Watch: ABC, ESPN2
Live Stream: ESPN3
Betting Line: Texas A&M (-4) according to Bodog Sportsbook
The linesmakers are playing this one safe with a -4 spread for the home team.
This game is one of the toughest games in college football to predict this week, as neither team has really played any elite competition this year.
Both teams have cruised to blowout wins this year, but Oklahoma State's big win over Arizona is the most impressive victory for either team thus far.
Their offense is lights out, and that gives them a slight advantage. This game will be close, so your best bet is to bet the underdog and take the four points.
Oklahoma State Injury Report:
You can't be much healthier than Oklahoma State in this one. They enter this game with zero injuries, and will have all their starters in action for this one.
Texas A&M Injury Report:
The Aggies are also feeling fresh as no players are suffering from injuries.
It doesn't get much better than two top-10 teams completely healthy entering a big game such as this one.
BCS/Top 25 Poll Implications
Oklahoma State enters the game as the No. 7 team in the country, while the Aggies are currently the No. 8 team in the country.
This will be a huge game for both sides and for the BCS.
The winner of this game has to be considered a serious threat to reach the BCS Championship game, and is literally a defeat of Oklahoma away.
The loser will still be in the BCS picture, but likely won't have a chance to reach the BCS Championship game barring some sort of miracle.
Key Storyline:
Which quarterback will rise to the occasion?
Take your pick on this one. Quarterbacks Ryan Tannehill and Brandon Weeden will be looking to prove themselves as elite quarterbacks with a big victory in this one.
Tannehill is a productive senior who is off to a great year so far. He has almost 600 passing yards and a completion percentage over 70 percent.
On the other hand, Weeden is a gunslinger. He has already topped 1100 yards passing on the year and has added eight touchdowns. However, he has thrown six interceptions, and will need to limit his mistakes in this game.
What They're Saying:
Texas A&M head coach Mike Sherman understands this game is a huge one, according to ESPN.
"It has explicit implications into who takes the early lead in the conference. It’s huge.
I don’t think you have to make a big deal. You don’t have to beat it into their head. They hear things. They see things. They’re not stupid. They understand how important this game is for us.
"
According to ESPN's Brian Fremeau, Oklahoma State's passing attack is going to need to exceed expectations in this game to have any chance at coming away with a victory.
"The matchup edge in this game is Texas A&M's running game against the Oklahoma State. As mentioned above in the SMU example, the Aggies can limit game possessions and still score with explosive efficiency. According to the S&P play-by-play efficiency ratings, A&M ranks among the top five in both passing downs (second-and-8 or more to go, or third-and-5 or more) and standard downs, and its rush attack ranks first in the nation.
It will be challenged by Oklahoma State, but the Aggies' success in extending drives can disrupt the precision rhythm of the Cowboys' offense. In a relatively even game, of course, home-field advantage can be the deciding factor, worth up to seven points on the scoreboard. In order to win, it will be up to the Oklahoma State offense to exceed its projected offensive efficiency to close that gap.
"
Oklahoma State Player to Watch: Justin Blackmon
Justin Blackmon is the No. 1 receiver in college football, and will be looking to make a huge impact in this game.
Through three games, Blackmon already has 27 catches for 329 yards and three touchdowns. The Cowboys need Blackmon to be in rare form for this one, as they are taking on one of the best defenses in the country.
Texas A&M Player to Watch: Cyrus Gray
The senior running back has already carried the ball 50 times through two games, and they are going to need at least 20 carries from his this week.
He is averaging 4.7 yards per carry this season, and if he can eat up the clock and keep the ball away from Weeden and Blackmon.
Key Matchup: Brandon Weeden and Justin Blackmon vs. Texas A&M's Secondary
If the Aggies can slow down Blackmon and Weeden, the Cowboys will stand no chance of coming away with a victory.
The Cowboys passing game will either make or break them in this game. If they have a huge week, the Cowboys should win, if they have a poor week the Aggies could blow this game out of the water.
Prediction:
Oklahoma State 31
Texas A&M 27
