NFL Predictions Week 3: Which RBs Will Eclipse the 100-Yard Mark?

John RozumJun 7, 2018

The running back position appears to be getting more difficult to judge as the NFL becomes more of a passing league each season.

Sure the RBs are great for screen passes or being the last resort/check-down, but it's not a far-fetched assumption to believe that Titans' RB Chris Johnson will be the last 2,000 yard rusher (but let's be optimistic).

That said, here are three RBs you can count on to gain over 100 yards in Week 3.

Michael Turner, Atlanta Falcons

He has broken two big runs in each of the first two weeks, and because of that Falcons' RB Michael Turner has reached or eclipsed 100 yards each time.

And having the big run ability shouldn't be taken away, as that only makes him more dangerous and is a testament to how good he really is.

He's like the Ron Dayne that made it in the NFL, and although Atlanta is a pass first offense, this week he goes up against a vulnerable Tampa Bay defense that ranks No. 31 is rush yards allowed per game (156.0)

Expect Turner to do well (at the very least), and possibly hit 150 yards.

Chris Johnson, Tennessee Titans

So far through two games this season, Titans' RB Chris Johnson has only gained 77 yards on 33 carries, and has yet to score a TD.

Of course this lack of productivity is going to change for the better, but you couldn't expect him to dominate right out of the gates when he came late to racetrack (meaning he held out on his contract).

With that in mind, Johnson goes against No. 28 ranked rush defense in the Denver Broncos this week, who have allowed 131 yards per contest.

If there's a week when CJ breaks out and gets back to normal, Week 3 against Denver is that week.

Ray Rice, Baltimore Ravens

By looking at Ray Rice's stats, you would have to take a double-take as he compiled 107 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but only 43 against the Tennessee Titans.

Seems backwards right?

Well fear not Raven's fans, because Ray Rice will hit stampede mode this week as Baltimore travels to St. Louis and plays the Rams who are ranked No. 32 in rush defense (allow 177.5 per game).

Plus, if the Ravens' offense wants to get back on track (or any offense for that matter), pounding the rock is what must be done as an established ground game always opens up the rest of the playbook.

Rice will break 100, and could potentially near 200 in this game.
