Chicago Bulls: From Derrick Rose to Prince, a Look Back at the 2010-11 Season
The Chicago Bulls may not have a 2011-12 season, but at least they gave Bulls fans a great 2010-11 campaign.
There were many great stories on the court, as well off.
The Bulls also did many great things, including the team's acquisitions to basically rebuild an entire team from nothing to a championship contender.
The season was great for Bulls fans, an experience they truly haven't had since Jordan left.
If there isn't a season coming up, Bulls fans can always look back and enjoy the events of the 2010-11 season.
If there is one thing Bulls fans are great at, it is appreciating past seasons.
Top 5 Acquisitions
1 of 11The Chicago Bulls revamped their roster last season, and it really showed how great of a job GM Gar Forman can do.
With Gar Forman at the forefront of the Chicago Bulls front office, the Bulls should be poised for success for many years.
These were Gar Forman's top moves in the 2010-11 season:
5. Kurt Thomas
2 of 11Thomas came off the bench when the Bulls needed him—literally, off the bench.
When Noah or Boozer were down, Thomas came in and started successfully.
When both players were back in action, Thomas went back to the bench and didn't complain.
4. C.J. Watson
3 of 11After much silent success with the Warriors, the Bulls brought Watson on over to the Midwest.
Watson was solid night-in and night-out for the Bulls, and he was an excellent backup to Derrick Rose.
It was difficult for Watson to play in the shadow of Rose, but he played well and was the floor general to the bench mob's success.
3. Ronnie Brewer
4 of 11Brewer was coming off of an injury-plagued season a year before, but he played relatively well in the new system.
He came off the bench, taking over the shooting guard spot once Bogans played with the starting rotation for the first few minutes.
Brewer never really lived up to the expectations Bulls fans set out for him, but perhaps with the extra rest he will be the player he could be.
2. Kyle Korver
5 of 11Korver was a real hit or miss this season.
When he was hot, he would come right off the bench and would drain shot after shot. Other times, fans just wanted him to stop shooting.
That being said, Korver still came through big in many games for the Bulls, and he should be a reliable player off the bench for seasons to come.
1. Carlos Boozer
6 of 11Even with all the negative responses Boozer received throughout the season and at season's end, he still proved to be the Bulls' most consistent No. 2 option when healthy.
He was plagued by foot injuries, but he did his best to play through them.
Boozer didn't have the season that Bulls fans were hoping for, but he at least wanted to play instead of just sitting out. Boozer is a great power forward and a great team player, so fans should be open to giving him a chance next season.
Boozer should be back and ready to redeem himself.
Funniest on-Court Moment
7 of 11Taj Gibson's three pointer against the Dallas Mavericks was the first of his career, and the better part of the shot was the huge smile on his face after he made the shot.
Gibson found a whole lot of face time after this funny moment, as it made many highlights on ESPN and the rounds across NBA websites word wide.
Not many times do funny things happen during the course of a game, so it was nice to see Taj being as surprised as all of us.
Best off-Court Story
8 of 11During midseason, there was a story that Carlos Boozer wanted to beat up Prince.
The weird thing is, however, the events took place in 2004.
Why? Well, apparently Prince rented out Boozer's house in Hollywood, and he did some major remodeling.
Prince supposedly took down walls, added purple water fountains and changed one of the bedrooms into a hair salon.
To say the least, Boozer was not happy when he first received the news.
A $1 million check from Prince made Boozer okay with the changes, though.
Derrick Rose's Best Dunk
9 of 11This ally-oop tops the Derrick Rose list for many reasons.
One, it was an awesome dunk.
Two, his demeanor was so calm and collect after the dunk. That is Rose, though—never flashy.
Three, he could have easily dunked it on his own, but he knew he was going to get the oop.
There were many great Rose dunks during the season, and it was truly difficult to close in on just one. I am sure many fans will agree or disagree with what is the best, but at least we can appreciate them all.
Best Game: January 15, 2011 Against the Miami Heat
10 of 11On a cold Chicago night, the Bulls and Heat were in a shoot out in the first matchup between the two teams.
It was a great battle, but the Bulls ultimately came out the winners in a 99-96 win.
Derrick Rose scored 34 points with eight assists, coming up big against the big two since LeBron James was sidelined with an injury.
Even though James was out, it was a statement game for the Chicago Bulls.
Boozer also added 12 points and 10 rebounds, helping the Bulls propel towards the win.
This was just the beginning of the epic eight games between these two teams.
Without a doubt, there will continue to be great games between these two Eastern Conference power houses for years to come.
Best Moment of the Season
11 of 11There were many highs to the Chicago Bulls season, but nothing was more satisfying for Bulls fans then to see Derrick Rose win the MVP.
Not only was Rose the first Bull to win the award since Jordan, but he also became the youngest recipient yet.
Rose averaged 25 points and 7.7 assists per game—numbers that were much higher then his averages a season ago.
Even though it didn't count towards his MVP win, Rose also averaged 27.1 points and 7.7 assists per game in the playoffs, just showing he could show continual success into the post season.
Many feel Rose was undeserving of the award, but fans know that even if it was a team effort, Rose was the face and reason for the Bulls success.
Rose has proven in such short time that he will be a superstar in this league for years to come, and he really gave Bulls fans an enjoyable 2010-11 season.
