DWTS Premiere: How Did Ron Artest and Hope Solo Do?

Zack PumerantzSep 19, 2011

With the start of the popular ABC show, most fans are wondering how the illustrious contestants performed.

Lakers forward Ron Artest was ready to open up eyes, while Hope Solo just wanted to prove that she can do more than keep soccer balls out of a net.

Some appeared flimsy, others uncomfortable, but all were psyched to be dancing in front of millions of viewers, yearning to make a name for themselves.

In the end, there was a wide array of results.

Let's see how our stars did.

Enjoy.

12. Ron Artest

1 of 12

Paired with rookie dancer Peta Murgatroyd, NBA champion Ron Artest wasn't expected to excite the crowd with his spectacular moves on the dance floor.

However, resembling Dennis Rodman with his yellow hair and open vest, Artest made the judges bite their tongues with his cha-cha-cha.

They loved the physicality, but thought he lacked the precise footwork to make it a delicate performance.

Score: 14 out of 30

11. Elisabetta Canalis

2 of 12

George Clooney's ex had high expectations placed on her, considering her remarkable beauty and illustrious career.

Elisabetta Canalis, along with parnter Val Chmerkovskiy, danced quite the mundane cha-cha-cha in the end, disappointing the judges unanimously.

She wasn't quite as sensual as most had hoped.

Score: 15 out of 30

10. Rob Kardashian

3 of 12

The brother in the Kardashian entourage, Rob was yearning for a chance to separate himself from his seemingly spoiled family, hoping to make himself known as an individual rather than Kim Kardashian's brother.

While he danced the Viennese Waltz with focused hips, he lacked the smooth precision to pull it off.

His stiffness was reminiscent of an aging redwood.

Score: 16 out of 30

9. Nancy Grace

4 of 12

The season's oldest contestant, Nancy Grace never has a problem making herself heard.

With questionable athletic ability, Nancy was ready to grace the stage with her presence, alongside Tristan MacManus.

She was underwhelming to say the least in her rendition of the cha-cha-cha.

Score: 16 out of 30

8. Carson Kressley

5 of 12

While Carson Kressley and Anna Trebunskaya danced an entertaining cha-cha-cha, it lacked discipline and technique, albeit full of flair.

Judge Carrie Ann said it was her favorite dance of the night.

Score: 17 out of 30

7. Chaz Bono

6 of 12

With arguably the most iconic name in the competition after Hope Solo, the only child of American entertainers Sonny and Cher did not disappoint, albeit not scoring remarkably high either.

"Great footwork" and "a great atitude" is all it took to impress the judges.

We believe it only took beautiful partner Lacey Schwimmer and an iconic cha-cha-cha.

Score: 17 out of 30

6. David Arquette

7 of 12

With arguably the sexiest dancing partner of the competition in Kym Johnson, Scream star David Arquette seemed exhilarated to prove his worth to a cynical crowd.

According to the judges, he did well, but was quite tense.

Score: 18 out of 30

5. Kristin Cavallari

8 of 12

While all she has to do is show up to please fans, Kristin Cavallari danced a stellar cha-cha-cha, considering the mediocre expectations.

The beautiful ex-fiance of Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, Cavallari always garners plenty of attention, especially when her hips are moving on a big stage.

She did not disappoint.

Score: 19 out of 30

4. Ricki Lake

9 of 12

After performing the Viennese Waltz with partner Derek Hough, Hairspray star Ricki Lake was far from intimidated.

She impressed judges with her electric dancing and the chemistry she displayed with Hough.

Score: 20 out of 30

3. Hope Solo

10 of 12

Paired with veteran Maksim Chmerkovskiy, soccer star Hope Solo danced a brilliant Viennese waltz.

While she had proper footwork and technique, her dancing lacked fluidity.

With her hard nature, she must fight to stay relaxed.

Score: 21 out of 30

2. Chynna Phillips

11 of 12

Dancing the Viennese Waltz with Tony Dovolani, this '90s pop star is used to the limelight.

While she didn't dance much during her tenure with Wilson Philips, she is surely confident performing.

She impressed the harsh judges.

Score: 22 out of 30

1. J.R. Martinez

12 of 12

Not only did J.R. Martinez receive one of the sexiest dancers in the competition, his performance got a standing ovation, a true sign of respect.

Carrie Ann claimed to be "touched by the performance" and Len stated that J.R.'s name stands for "just right."

Can't receive a better compliment.

Score: 22 out of 30
