Dennis Bergkamp and the Top 8 Arsenal Cult Heroes
Any club in world football has its fare share of cult heroes and Arsenal is no exception.
The Gunners are a club steeped rich in tradition and although recent results have not done their past success justice, it is still nice to remember to glory days when Arsene Wenger first took charge of the club and the eras before Wenger as well.
So, here they are without further introduction, your top eight Arsenal cult heroes.
Dennis Bergkamp
1 of 8Bergkamp played for Gunners over a decade and helped the London club win plenty of titles.
The Dutchman won three Premier League titles, four FA Cups and three Community Shields throughout his time at the club under Arsene Wenger and the manager who signed him, Bruce Rioch.
Kanu
2 of 8The lanky Nigerian forward was signed from Inter, just like Bergkamp, in 1999 and became a cult hero after bringing the Gunners back from the dead against Chelsea in a match at Stamford Bridge.
Kanu came off the bench in this game and with his club down 2-0, he scored a hat trick off the bench, cementing his place in Arsenal history.
Ray Parlour
3 of 8Parlour spent twelve seasons with the Gunners, his last being the with the Invincibles team in 2003-04.
Parlour is also known for a spectacular performance against Chelsea as he drilled a goal from 30 yards out to defeat Arsenal's London rivals in the 2002 FA Cup Final.
John Jensen
4 of 8Jensen scored his only Arsenal goal in 1994 after he felt pressure from the crowd, yelling at him to shoot.
The Danish defender only played four years with the Gunners but became a cult hero due to his lack of scoring and how impressive his only goal was.
Tony Adams
5 of 8The England defender spent his whole career with Arsenal and made over 500 appearances for the club.
Known to some as "Mr. Arsenal," Adams ended his career in 2002. Since then he has tried his hand in managing and is currently in charge of Gabala in Azerbaijan.
Jens Lehmann
6 of 8Lehmann was in net for the Gunners for five years and came back to the club in 2011 for a game after the club went through a goalkeeping crisis.
Lehmann was also a legend for Germany as he led them to a second and third place finish in two World Cups.
Lauren
7 of 8The Cameroon international played seven years for the Gunners and became one of the club's top defenders during his time there.
Lauren won three FA Cups, two Premier Leagues and two Community Shields with Arsenal throughout his time with the club.
Oleg Luzhny
8 of 8While he did not have a successful career at Arsenal, Luzhny provided fans with something to remember him by in his last game with the club.
The Ukrainian came on as a substitute for Sol Campbell in the FA Cup Final in 2003 and held the Saints scoreless after he came on to help lead the Gunners to the title.
