NFL Fantasy Football Projections Week 2: 3 TE's You Don't Want to Oppose

Michael DixonJun 3, 2018

Tight end is not traditionally the most desired position. They usually get put on the back burner in the drafts.

It makes sense, but they can't be neglected.

Tight ends can pick up a good chunk of points with touchdowns. And their big bodies make them pretty good pretty good red zone options.

If you're against these guys this week, you might be in for a tough battle. Tight end isn't normally a huge scoring position, but these guys are in positions to break that trend.

Vernon Davis

Davis' first game could have been better. The 49ers didn't target him too often. Still, this is a guy who makes receiver's plays in a tight end's body.

While the position has changed a little bit, not many tight ends are genuine threats to score whenever they touch the ball. Davis is.

He's a big play threat, but also a strong option in the red zone. Dustin Keller had a strong showing against the Cowboys in Week 1, and I can't imagine Davis will do any worse.

Unfortunately, he's not available in any leagues. The fact that Davis is a good tight end isn't exactly a stunning revelation that you're reading here for the first time.

But if you're going against Davis, prepare for a high-scoring showdown.

Owen Daniels

While he's been a good player, Daniels actually is available in some leagues. If you're in a league where an owner was dumb enough to drop him after a poor Week 1, scoop him up.

Put yourself in the shoes of Houston's coaches. After seeing what Tom Brady in the Patriots did against Miami, wouldn't you try to emulate that game plan?

Well, that game plan involved a heavy use of tight ends (more on that in a second). With Kevin Walter out and Arian Foster still being eased into action, you would think that Daniels will get plenty of attention from Matt Schaub.

Rob Gronkowski/Aaron Hernandez

Believe it or not, these two are actually both available in ESPN leagues. Maybe owners are scared of one taking catches from the other.

I get that, but Tom Brady hasn't ever had much of a problem distributing the ball.

These two both caught a lot of passes in Week 1. I can't imagine that Brady won't look to get these guys both into the game against San Diego.

If you're against either, hold your breath. If either are available, waste no time in signing them.

Even if one gets more attention than the other, the one on the short end of stick will get plenty of attention.
