Pacquiao vs Mayweather: Money Is Running out of Time to Cash in vs Pacquiao

Richard LangfordJun 1, 2018

Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao is the only real fight that boxing fans have been dying to see. And they have been dying to see it for years. Both fighters stand to make huge paydays for the bout, yet it has failed to materialize.

At the root of this fight not happening is Floyd Mayweather's insistence that there be random drug testing for the fight. He claims that the current drug testing system will not do if he is going to fight Pacquiao.

This has led many to question rather it is the drug testing or the fact that Money is just ducking the fight all together. Mayweather is quick to dispute that claim.

Mayweather, as quoted on guardian.co.uk:

"

"I'm not ducking or dodging anybody. I'm in a no-win situation. The only thing I can do is go out there and keep winning, keep proving myself over again."

"

While it may not be clear exactly why Money doesn't want to fight Pacman, one thing is clear: Mayweather is running out of time to capitalize on this fight.

Mayweather is 34 years old. He is quickly running out of time in his boxing career. We are not talking about a guy that relies on brute power to win bouts. Mayweather uses his quickness. He makes people miss and punishes them with counter attacks.

His quickness will be the first thing to fade as he ages. Every day that goes by is now another dollar he losses off of his potential purse with a fight with Pacquiao.

Pacquiao needs to make this fight his next, or he the he is going to be put in a position where he has little or no bargaining power with this match.
