Notre Dame Football: Are We Already at the End of the Brian Kelly Era?
Is there a time for change in South Bend?
One word, no.
It doesn’t make sense to fire a coach that’s only two games into his second season with the Fighting Irish or any college football program for that matter.
The main reason that people are calling for the job of Brian Kelly with the Fighting Irish is that fans and alumni still believe Notre Dame is a top tier team in today’s college football.
I’m sorry Irish fans, but your favorite team is not a top tier team anymore.
Don’t get me wrong, the Irish are a very talented team but they are not an every year national title contender like they were in the golden years of the Fighting Irish football program.
Notre Dame needs to give Brian Kelly the time to make his system work at South Bend after success in his stints at Central Michigan and Cincinnati in his time before taking over the Fighting Irish.
The Irish have had a great recruiting class ranked seventh in the nation in 2011 in addition to a strong group of players committed to the 2012 class prepared to join Notre Dame next season.
With the talent on the current Notre Dame roster in addition to the talent on the way to South Bend next season, the Irish can definitely be a player next season so there should be no change in coach unless Kelly is underperforming next season as well.
Do you think it’s wise for Notre Dame to fire Brian Kelly after only one full year in South Bend? Let me know in the comments below if you think Notre Dame should fire their coach 15 games into his Irish coaching career.
