Arsenal: Unworthy Blackburn Defeat the Abysmal Gunners
If you're an Arsenal fan, chances are, you're blood is boiling, you're angrily cursing the TV, and you think that your team has sunk to a new low.
The sad part, you are indeed correct with your assumptions. The misfiring Gunners have lost to an ugly, pathetic, heinous Blackburn side, who can only be described as crap. But then again, how would you describe Arsenal?
The Gunners scored five goals, and lost by scoring three goals and conceding four. And you don't have to be smart to figure it out, but they scored two own goals, through the unlucky Alex Song, and the pathetic Laurent Koscielny, who should've been condemned to the bench after the Manchester United game, but has thankfully proved Wenger wrong with his assessment that losing to Manchester United by eight goals to two was one-off.

From the start, Wenger's plan was wrong, and his team selection was wrong. Playing against a physical, ugly Blackburn side isn't easy, and Wenger should've understood that, but instead, he and Arsenal have given the Blackburn manager, who is so generic we won't even bother with his name, a breather from the criticism he's been under, and pointed more criticism towards Arsenal.
Fans shouldn't be fooled, Arsenal and Wenger deserve what they're getting, they've settled for less, from themselves, and from their players, and this is the end result.
Wenger's tactics in corners and set-pieces are shambolic, even an amateur can come up with better tactics than these surely.
Seriously, what's the point in buying Mertesacker, if you're not going to make him mark a guy like Samba in set-pieces, and what is the logic behind playing Santos (who wasn't terrible really, apart from playing Yakubu on-side for the first goal), when Gibbs showed no fault against Dortmund?
The game plan is that of an undecided manager, and the end result is the one witnessed now. Arsenal have conceded 14 goals in three games in the EPL, and the moment someone states it can't get any worse, well, it does.
Many fans have already given their season tickets to their friends to go to the stadium, because quite frankly, this is not the Arsenal they've grown with, this is a team suffering because of a board of directors and manager who refuse to move ahead with the times, and are stuck with their arrogance, and refusal to buy quality when they're selling their very best.
Can Arsenal finish in the top 4? Statistically speaking, yes they can, but quality wise, it's very unlikely as things stand.
Five games played. Three defeats, one draw, and one win against the team that is currently last in the EPL table. Arsenal have reached a new low, and the start of this decade couldn't be any worse for a team of their stature.
It was an unlucky game from an inconsistent side, two goals conceded as own-goals, one goal conceded was offside, and the end result is making a mediocre player like Yakubu, and a mediocre team like Blackburn not only look good, but also end up above Arsenal in the league table.
Wenger needs to pull it together, a more cautious and well-studied approach to every game must be taken. For example, Chamakh should've started a game against a team like Blackburn, where a header is badly needed, and Walcott should've started as well, a player like Arshavin could be used in the second half, rather than having him burn out at the end of the first half.
In short, if Arsenal are to scrap their way to a top-4 finish (and should that happen, fans should be grateful), Wenger needs to learn how to utilize his players more efficiently. There are some top players at Arsenal, but without the ability to direct them, Arsenal will no longer be the team they used to be.
