Arsenal FC: 9 Steps to Get Back to Premiere League Glory

Khalid KhanJun 1, 2018

For Arsenal, these are very dark times at the club. With the departures of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, many people started wondering if Arsene Wenger's time at Arsenal may be coming to an end.

With a dismal start to their season, and that horrific 8-2 loss at Old Trafford, many people began to wonder if Arsenal can even crack into the top four this season.

But after a hectic deadline day of the transfer window, Gunner's fans were delighted with the signings of Andre Santos, Ju-Young Park, Per Mertesacker, Yossi Benayoun and Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal's squad is now strengthened with more experience and depth to challenge for a top four spot, and possibly silverware as well.

In order for Arsenal to once again become title contenders Wenger must incorporate and bring in many things into the club to catch up with the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United.

1. Keep Their Star Players

1 of 9

After the crazy fiasco that occurred at Arsenal throughout the summer, as Arsenal were unable to retain their captain Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, Wenger might have another problem building up if he doesn't have Robin Van Persie and Theo Walcott sign new contracts before the end of the season.

Because of what happened with Nasri, Wenger should do everything he can do to keep Walcott and Van Persie at the club. He can give them big lucrative deals to keep them financially happy. He also must add more quality into the squad in order to keep them happy and confident in the club's ambition to get silverware.

If Wenger is able to keep his star players happy, that will only increase Arsenal's chances of returning to glory.

2. Do Not Rebuild the Squad Around One Player

2 of 9

It is very important that Arsene Wenger does not do to Jack Wilshere what he did Cesc Fabregas. What I mean by this, is that Wenger cannot rebuild the squad around one player, like he did with Cesc Fabregas.

By building the team around Cesc, Arsenal seemed lost at times when he was not on the pitch. They cannot invest that much into one player, because that will either make or break your club.

If Arsene Wenger can avoid doing the same with Wilshere, Arsenal can once again get back to the top of the Premiere League.

3. Mix in Youth with Experience

3 of 9

What I loved about Arsenal's moves in the transfer window, is that they got players with experience to be able to mix it with the youth of this squad.

Adding a player with Premiership experience was very important to Wenger, and he found it in the purchase of Mikel Arteta and a loan deal of Benayoun. Arteta and Benayoun know the physical tolls of the EPL, which makes it easier for them to adapt into the squad.

Then, Wenger brought in players with international experience such as Mertesacker, Santos and Park. These acquisitions also bring leadership qualities because Mertesacker, Park and Benayoun all are the captains of their respective national sides.

Being able to bring in players of experience and leadership, and blending them in with talented youngsters such as Jack Wilshere, can only better Arsenal's chances of success.

4. Need to Keep Players out of the Physio Room

4 of 9

Arsenal seem to be quite unlucky when it comes to injuries. Most of Arsenal's collapses and struggles are caused by the thinning of their squad due to injury.

With players like Vermaelen and Wilshere being sidelined for a couple of months, Wenger cannot afford any more long-term injuries.

Whats the solution, and who is at fault?

There has to be some fault to the consistency of Arsenal's injuries. Most of you will blame it on the physio team. Maybe some of you think they way they train might be the real problem. Who knows? But it is for certain that Arsenal need to resolve this issue, quickly.

5. Get Rid of the Dead Weight

5 of 9

It's time to get rid of the dead weight. I know it sounds harsh, but they deserve it because their performances cost our club. It is time to get rid of these players who under-perform on a consistent basis. These players cost us vital points and take up space in the club's roster. It is time to let them all go, and let the youth get a crack at the first-team.

Players who need to go: Almunia, Squillaci, Denilson, Bendtner.

Players on thin ice: Djourou, Arshavin, Chamakh.

6. Get One More Star Player

6 of 9

Even though Arsenal made great moves in strengthening their squad during the transfer window, I still believe they are one player away from challenging Manchester United for the Premier League title.

This player needs to be a game changer in the attack, needs to be able a constant treat for the opposing defense and needs to be a world-class talent. There are a lot of players Arsenal can choose from to fill that role.

Candidates to join Arsenal: Eden Hazard (Lille), Mario Gotze (Borssia Dortmund), Marek Hamsik (Napoli), Ricardo Montilivo (Fiorentina), Xherdan Shaqiri (Basel) and Marvin Martin (Sochaux).

If Arsenal can acquire one of these players from the list, they should have no problem ending their silverware drought.

7. Keep Arsene Wenger

7 of 9

Arsene Wenger has made this club what it is today. He has been able to build very strong squads without the transfer funds that clubs like Manchester City and Barcelona get when in the transfer window.

Do not forget he is more successful than any other manager in the club's history. He built the squad which is identified with as "The Invincibles." Do not blame him for Arsenal's drought of silverware. It is only the Arsenal Board's fault because they don't provide him with the transfer funds that are needed to build strong squads.

If it wasn't for Arsene Wenger, this club would be trapped in debt like all the other big clubs, and we would have never seen this attractive style of football at Arsenal which I like to call "Wengerball."

8. More Support from the Supporters

8 of 9

It makes me mad when I am watching an Arsenal home game and I can barely hear our supporters. Highbury was never that quiet. Where is the passion?

If we can't give our club support that it needs, then why even go to the games? There are also too many negative Arsenal fans around the internet who criticize us just as much as the press do.

We need more passionate fans. What makes a passionate Arsenal fan? Just go watch the video of the Arsenal supporters that stayed at Old Trafford after their side got hammered 8-2.

9. Keep the Faith

9 of 9

We must keep the faith in our club, and must not give up on hope of once again becoming champions. We are the Pride of North London and no one can keep us down.

We are Arsenal FC.
